UhOh. Ford Fiesta St 200hp turbo
Raucous Ford Fiesta ST Will Start Under $22K And Get 35 Highway MPG
Who else is excited about the Ford Fiesta ST? Reviews have been positive, and it sounds like it distills all the ridiculous fun of the impressive Focus ST into a smaller package. Turns out it's pretty fuel efficient, too — and cheap!
Ford this morning released more stats on the Fiesta ST. The car has been EPA certified to get 26 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway for a combined 29 mpg. Seriously, why would you buy a Corolla over that?
The folks at Ford say they think buyers will cross shop this with the Fiat 500 Abarth and Chevrolet Sonic RS, but at 197 horsepower and 202 lb-ft of torque, the ST trumps both in the power department by a wide margin.
It's also significantly cheaper than another competitor, the Mini Cooper JCW. The base price of the Fiesta ST will be under $22,000, making the wee hot hatch an impressive performance bargain.

Meh, I tried to drive the focus ST and didn't fit comfortably enough to leave the dealer's lot and feel safe. Now we are talking about a smaller car? I am glad it is the hatch version with 4 doors.
At the end of the day, its only a stick and I don't really fit into the boy racer bolstering or low roof (big guy here), it's not replacing my MINI any time soon.

Does it bother anyone else that Jalopnik refers to it as the Mini Cooper, not MINI Cooper?
I'm sure the Fiesta ST will be a fun little car to drive...what's not to like about placing some power in a small, lightweight, well-handling, hatchback?

It seems that ALL of the automotive media outlets do that. I've written and e-mailed them ad nauseum to explain that Minis are the original, classic models, and that MINIs are the modern, BMW-owned models. I'v never even received so much as a response. Quite honestly, I'm surprised that MINI/BMW have not taken this issue up with them. If someone misspells or mispronounces MY name, I correct them.
It used to bother me, but I stopped caring. Even the vast majority of MINI owners (not to mention the general public) refer to the car as a "Mini Cooper". It seems that the only people who distinguish between Mini and MINI are those on the forums (a tiny minority of MINI owners).
