I just paid 2.28.9/10 - let's just call it 2.29 for 92 octane.
I just deleted a long treatise arguing higher prices have both benefits (conservation and development of new technologies) and obvious deficits, especially for people less lucky than me who can't afford the prices. I'll just post this instead.
Higher prices are a great, wonderful, fantastic thing. That's because I lust for a Hummer. The higher the prices go, the more $ incentives there will be to commandeer one off the lot. Even with my income I probably couldn't drive it much, but they are bigger than some apartments I lived in when a student. No more rent or utility bills.
Downside of late is the refinery in Texas that blew up will tend to push prices up. Interesting times we live in.
The news stories I read about that refinery said that it was not going to be a factor as it was not in production, nor was it being counted on for the summer. This from the company spokesperson.
I just paid $2.25 for premium west of Boston....the Mobil near me that is usually 15¢ to 25¢ higher than everyone else now only has a 5¢ premium. Needless to say I'm not one of their customers.
On Sunday I paid $2.86 for premium (91 octane) in Julian in San Diego County. Just put in $10 (1/4 tank) to get me back to a more civilized $2.50 in San Diego proper.
Paid $2.67 last night for 91. Never thought I'd ever spend $25 at the pump on the Mini.
Diesel is running around $2.40 to $2.50. My motorhome holds 100 gallons. I play a mind game on myself: never let the tank get below 1/2 full - makes the price seem lower than it is.
Whether talking human exhaust system or price of auto gas that sounds very painful. It's up another 2 cents here: 2:20 for 92 octane. I'm surprised to read some areas sell 94 octane. I have to search for 92. Maybe it has something to do with their pushing ethanol blends here in the cornbelt.
I put 40 gallons of diesel in my motorhome (it holds 100g) last Friday and the bill was $107. I don't let the tank go below half full, as a way to delude myself to think fuel costs are not all that bad. In the past two weeks, diesel went from $2.39 to $2.64 on Monday. Could be higher today.
Yikes, $2.93 for 91 at a Shell station in Napa today! The $3.00 gallon may not be far off. At least it will be used well tomorrow on the NorCal MINIs run.
$2.23 for 93 octane this morning. I filled it up yesterday morning for $2.32. I have filled up four times since I got my car. I better slow down, yeesh.
