VW Passat Wagon advice

My wife needs a new car, she's interested in the '08 VW passat wagon 2.0 turbo. Any input from previous or current drivers would be appreciated. Also if someone knows of a good forum web site. Thanks
I've also herd rumors that there will be a diesel available late march, any thoughts?

the 2.0 direct injected turbo is a very stong motor. It is used in the GTi as well as the Audi A3 and new TT. Chipped they're getting north of 250hp. Everyone seems to like them. The Passat, like most VW's, may be reliability challenged...Hard to tell on the new stuff though without some time under their belt. I've been very involved with Audi's for the past 6 years so have some knowledge here..My friends with Passats hang out here: http://www.passatworld.com/

never ever ever ever going to happen.

as for the B6 wagon, its a great car. my sister has one with package 1 (sunroof, leatherette, heated front seats, alloys) and i love it. its very strong, gets great mileage, easily upgradeable (REVO software is amazing and she will never know), comfortable, smooth, quiet, solid. i have no complaints about the car. the 2.0T has be rather reliable across the board. it has been out for a few years now so most of the recalls have already come through. along with passatworld.com i will recommend VWVortex.com, more specifically the B6 passat forum along with the 2.0T technical forum. alot of knowledge is on that site but beware the d*cks. they are quite abundant on there. as some people know on the site, i am a VW driver and enthusiast and i am more than willing to do my best to answer questions.

legacywgn.

no more wagons for me though. next family car is going to be
most-likely a new loaded odyesse in the coming years.

If you want to go a little smaller, SUPPOSEDLY the Jetta SportWagen is coming out in the summer with a diesel.

Yeah, but then you'd have soccer moms thinking they're badass just like all the douches with rich daddies who think they're hot in their R32's.

its the R badge being attached to a body kit. the R32 was a performance car. it was the fastest production car VW made. The R36 Passat is a 3.6 4motion Passat with a body kit and sport suspension. its nothing all that special. its the same as the R50 Toureg. dont get me wrong, the R50 is hot as hell (and the 5.0 liter V10 diesel is ) but again, the V10 is available in the Toureg (not in the US). other than that the R50 is a body kit, wheels and suspension. The R badge should be something special. how would you guys have felt if the Cooper S was nothing more than an appearance package?
R50 for reference

ok, i lied about the R50, its more bad*ss than the normal V10 Turbo Diesel. the R36 still isnt anything special

it was, i am pretty sure it has since been discontinued. Americans aren't ready for diesel daily drivers yet. not to mention the price was a tad high

I'm pretty sure it has been, too. Either way, if I was going for a European SUV, this is what I'd personally go for:

Thank you, TechArt. You will be in my dreams tonight.
