New Hyundai RWD coupe with 300 HP

http://www.thetorquereport.com/2007/...lnew.html#more

Sounds like it'll have a 300 hp n/a V6, or a 215 hp turbo 4 (under rated?)... I like the looks, and it would seem like a good bargain alternative to a 350Z, G37, Mustang GT. At least it's another option out there for enthusiasts!

We recently bought a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe for my wife, and have been very happy with it for the past 10,000 miles. Maybe they can do a sports car well too...

Hyundai is an auto industry success story. sometimes, when you hit rock bottom like they did 15 years ago, you come back stronger than your competition. They are cleaning up these days and it's good to see a reliable, value-rich lineup out there.

I read a rumour about this project a while back in Road and Track-I'm not surpised as Hyundai is heavy into rally but I thought it would be more rally-like. It's interesting they pit it against a Mustang as it looks more like a competitor to the new Accord coup or the Nissan/Infinity offerings. I do wish Hyundai would get more original in their styling as that looks like bits of GT-R here, Accord coupe there and a little BMW for good measure...

yep, they basically stole the look from the G35C's imho and added
some lines to it.

but then im sure infiniti stole the lines from another great looking car
and made it even better.... but then screwed it up when they designed
the G37 coupe. (oh wait, this was a post about Hyundai's, not my
dissappointment with the G37's appearance. )

the new Accord (and Impreza even) cribs from the Bangle House of Design (BMW), so it's not a surprise that Hyundai is doing the same.

As my family was one of the unfortunate to own a late 80's Hyundai I have to say it will be a long time before I buy one. However, I know several people that have bought them with no problems. They do need to do a little better in original design. So many of their cars look like they were pieced together for other companies left overs.

Damn! That is one ugly car. What's with the discontinuity of line from front to rear?

It's like three designers did the car. One did the front. One did the back. The last guy had the merciless task of putting them together without altering the front and rear designs.
