Maverick MINIs Scavenger Hunt

UPDATE 9/22
Some more information...

Things on the list that you will be hunting for include Items, Pictures (bring your digital/polaroid camera!) and Locations within Santa Clara County.

The length of the Hunt will be 3 hours: 10am to 1pm.
Please arrive at Xilinx by 9:30am for check-in, rules and information.

We will end with lunch (please bring cash for your meal) and an awards ceremony starting at 1pm. Yes, there are prizes! You'll find the location of the final meeting place during the Hunt.

Depending on how many MINIs participate, teams of 2-4 cars will be created before the Hunt begins. Drivers will need to present a valid driver's license before participating. Co-pilots and other passengers are allowed.

Nav systems may be used. If you don't have Nav bring a map of the county. Knowing major sites/landmarks of the county will very helpful!

Bring pen & paper and your cell phone as well.

See you all on SUNDAY!!!

***********************************

Hello Everyone!

Details:

Date: Sunday, September 24th
Time: Meet up at 9:30am, Hunt starts at 10am sharp
Place: Xilinx parking lot in San Jose (85 & Union Ave.)

Participation is open to ALL MINIs/Minis and we'll be creating teams the morning of the hunt (2-4 cars per team depending on the turn out) -- please be on time so you don't miss out on the fun! There are oodles of fabulous prizes and good times to be had by all! More details are on our web site.

We hope to see you there!
Maverick MINIs

NOTE: When you arrive at the corner of Logic Drive and Union Avenue:

If you are coming from Hwy 85, make a U-turn at the light and pull into the 1st available driveway.

If you are coming from Camden Avenue, proceed through the light at Logic Drive and make a right into the first available driveway.

Logic Drive is being repaved the weekend of this Scavenger Hunt. It should not impact where we meet, only how you get into the parking lot.

Actually, it is a good starting-off point. It seems you can get around the valley pretty fast from this starting location. Are we ending there as well, or do you have an eatery/watering hole identified?

Count me in. Sounds like a fun way to spend a Sunday!

Are the teams going to be chosen at random or can we start forming our teams off-line? (let's see... who seems to have a good sense of direction when we go on Nikki Runs???) Mike! I want Mike on my team!!

Even though Nikki claims it will not be an advantage, I think that the use of Nav or GPS should not be allowed.

Bring a map!

Oh, and as Lidia said, no pre-choosing teams... they will be drawn at random before we send you on your way.

No, because I have a sense of direction and know how to read a map. No crutch needed here.

And I don't have one

Maybe you'll end up with one on your team! You never know, but then again, it might prove to be totally useless

We're allowed co-pilots, right?
I dont go anywhere without my co-pilot!

I did one of these on MMW last year and learned two important lessons.

I am local to Danville, where it was held, so I thought I had an advantage, but I learned that you still need to pay very close attention to the maps, even if you think you know where you are.

I had a co-pilot and we decided that I was the both the better driver and the better map reader and we decided that I should drive, but we found out that map reading was more important.

Looks like I'm going to have to skip this one. I've been invited to climb Mt. Whitney in October and need all of my weekend time to get ready.

Have fun everyone.

Heads-Up Everyone:

When you arrive at the corner of Logic Drive and Union Ave please note the following:

If you are coming from Hwy 85, make a U-turn at the light (says Cole below traffic light) and pull into the 1st available driveway.

If you are coming from Camden Avenue, proceed through the light at Logic Drive(says Cole below traffic light) and make a right into the first available driveway.

Logic Drive is being repaved the weekend of this Scavenger Hunt. It should not impact where we meet, only how you get into the parking lot.

I'm New!

Hey Everyone...I went on The Mini Takes The States Rally a few weeks ago and had a blast. Now I want to hang out with other Mini Peeps. I'd love to do this scavenger hunt. I'm new to Maverick and would love to join your group. How many people are scheduled to do this on the 24th? Let me know.
