why would they? don't remember if there is a gate to the parking lot.
it'd be fun to take a photo like this, only at night, well the tower will be closed for sure.

Such a pessimist, Wil!
With all the outstanding photographic talent we have in our group (Jimz68, Hong, etc.), I'm sure they could find multiple ways to get a good pic, including TRDL's fantabulous idea of bonnets up/lights on!!!

Why would they?

There has been a spike in crime and late night underage drinking/fighting at Koit Tower. The neighbors complaiined and the police have been shutting it down at night.

Here's the scoop

the approach to the crooked part of lombard is really steep. got to practice those starts. but the crooked part is down hill, so no problem.

This is going to be such a good run. What are the plans to keep everyone together in the event (we all know it will happen) of the dreaded traffic light split up?

I am planning to bring my tripod for those long exposure shots. Hope to get at least one great shot.

Once again, thanks to all who have given up good driving time to organize!

Anyone coming from the East Bay? I'd like to get with someone, as I'm not too famililar with navigating SF. Would it be good to meet up somewhere in the eastbay to get over to the departure point?

FWIW, I'll be internet-less after Thursday...

It was proposed early-on that the approach to the hills (which usually include a series of block long rises terminating in cross-street flats, with STOP SIGNS) would be to queue up and shoot up each segment, one at a time, so the cars in the queue block or discourage interlopers, and each Mini has a stright-shot up that particular segment. What we DON'T want is to be stacked three- or four-long on the gradient behind a stop sign, while someone waits for a pedestrian, confused tourist, piggy parker, etc.

Any chance you'll be at Webb's Pulley Party in Oakland that day? There will likely be a few of us there that can help get you to & across the city from there. If not and no one can hook up with you in the east bay, let me know and I'll get some good directions for you.

He has so, so many good quotes, but I do love it when he says my favorite (come on everyone, say it all together now... 'bite my shiny metal ***') and it applies to the car well too.

I think a key to staying together is have the rear jump out first and 'block' while everyone else pulls out.

Looking forward to the run this weekend. I should be bringing Steph (swedish fish) as well since her MINI isn't due to arrive until mid/late June.

It's in the 'hood, so don't get nervous when the neighborhood gets shady - that just means you're in the right place! Google-map the address 'cause their website doesn't have directions (that I could find).

If folks want to hang out there Sat. afternoon and then find something to do to kill time before the run, I'm up for that.

I am going to the Giants game at ATT park. I know of several Minis going there. The game starts at 6:05 and should get out about 9-9:30. Perfect time to take a drive over to Ocean Beach for the start.

Only problem is going to the ball game without having a beer.

If you have time, you might want to check out Fantasy Junction. It's not far from Bay Bridge Motors, and Bruce usually has some really fine cars there.

Hey everyone,
I just found out about this, and am planning on joining you guys. I won't be able to make it for dinner as my sister's high school graduation party is that night, but I'll be there by 11:30. Sounds like fun!
