sfgrunge - get thee to an aftermarket intake vendor quickly. You can *barely* hear the SC with the stock intake. Oh, you've got a JCW - nevermind. Of course, you're gonna have to wait 1,200 miles before you get to hear the flap open...

So no one else has pics from the SF run, yes?

Or video or audio clips from the Broadway tunnel for sfgrunge? The sound of a tunnel full of MINIs opening it up was a symphony of supercharger whine...

Yup, my SC's whine sounds great! But the symphony of group whine from all the directions is awsome! every time we pulled off from a light, or a stop sign, the screaming whines were so loud that I couldn't hear my whine, or the noisy exhaust in front of me.

Oh see now you guys are just being mean....

I can't wait for the next SF Midnight run. Thankfully I have to fly down to San Diego to pick up my MCS. That will click off about 500-600 miles from the breakin period. So that means that I would only have about 12 or so laps of the SF 49-mile Drive to complete the breakin period. HA HA HA

I pick up my MINI on the 15th, so only 7 more days.

Ah yes, but the torture will be driving up from SD at sub-4500RPM/95mph hahahaha. Seriously, though, I never had issues with the speed limitation in break-in, but it's hard to keep the revs down sometimes when passing or on the onramp or what have you.

My drive-home experience was just across to SF from Comcord in East Bay, but it was wierd... bumper to bumper traffic, which isn't unusual on a Friday night, but it WAS surreal to go 5mph for 90 minutes or so in a brand new car. I got *assimilated* during all that sitting time. Kinda cool. If you HAVE to sit in traffic, being in a brand spanking new car is a welcome distraction from the tedium...

Take a detour and drive the Malibu canyons ;-)

I'll be driving down to LA that day, but not in a MINI.

My mom (who is a high school teacher in FL) has the summer off and she wanted to come visit (and get a break from the heat), so I thought it would be cool to fly down to socal with her and then we can drive it back up here to SF. Neither of us has been to San Diego and LA. Well I have been to LA but only for a few conventions and did not have time for the touristy stuff. So we are going to take our time heading north. Plus we are going to take the smaller coastal roads and see the sights instead of blasting up I5. It should be loads of fun.

So if you guys have thoughts on stuff that we should not miss between SD and SF let me know.

I recently got my in car cam setup going and posted some videos of a few places where we went. Lombard Street, Coit Tower, Broadway, and Vermont Street. So if you didn't make the run and haven't been to these places you can get a peek at what they are like. Sorry, it isn't the same without the other Minis there. I'll see what I can do the next time we do the run. To see the videos go to the link below and look at the videos list on my profile.
