GoldCountryMini and I will be there! Looking forward to seeing everyone. Count us in for dinner and the run. Do we know where the dinner is going to be held at? If we can request somewhere with some nearby parking. Did I read that it's going to be at the beach chalet?

Just curious~does anyone know if the group that did the last SF night run had any problems? Such as pull-overs by police or anyone getting lost
. Just wondering if the run went smoothly.
**not that I have any plans to get pulled over or getting lost
Honest, I don't

I'm also curious about the hill portions... it looks like, from the proposed map, that there's a steep stretch leading up to Pacific Heights on Scott St. from Broadway, which has some stop signs on the way up, as well as again coming out of Haight on the way up to Twin Peaks.
Gingerly adjusting to my new Mini clutch, I suspect I'll stay at the back!

The run on the 29th started around 7 or 8 and lasted til about 11:30, so they had a lot of traffic to deal with and ended up doing an unplanned detour or two and the group got broken up. But no reports of run-ins with Johnny Law.
Since our ride will start at midnight, we shouldn't have the traffic problems that the other group did. SFJames and some others did this run in Sept. and had a blast, with no problems.
If you're not familiar/comfortable with the city, I strongly recommend bringing a copy of the route and a good map of SF - just in case.

I replied that we were just a group of friends taking a late night tour of the City. He said,"Well there's a full Moon tonight, lots of crazy folks out . Be careful and have a good time". WHEW!!!

Cool
You should have asked him to pose for a picture!
Woohoo, singkat!
I've got a tally of about 15 who plan to attend dinner. To keep logistics simple, let's go with the Beach Chalet.
DINNER before the Run:
Beach Chalet @ 9:30pm for anyone wishing to join us for dinner.

Just got to a computer that works. Thought I'd pass along some of what I learned from the last night run in SF.
If you have ever considered bringing along a co-pilot, this might be a good time. It can get a little hecktic driving at night.
Bring a good flashlight so you can read the map in the dark.
Bring cell phones and exchange numbers before the run starts. And keep the cell numbers handy. Don't fold them put them on the floor in the back seat. Hard to find in the dark.
I found that some of the steeper roads were tough on clutches. This run is starting much later with hopefully less traffic. Might suggest that everyone group up at the bottom of the steep hills and send one car up, leaving a gap. It's not the steepness as much as the stop signs. Stopping on a steep hill is not fun. Especially if you have a car right behind you.
Found that SF does not have a lot of places to "re-group" if you get separated. Might set up a few stopping points along the way to gather back up. The city also has plenty of stop light and stop signs.
I found that sometimes the mapping program doesn't always match the real conditions. When it says take a left on Clayborne ST. and you get there and there is a sign "No Left Turn".
Also on the weekends there are special events. They tend to throw out "detours" which can be a challenge.
I am sure that the run will go smoothly. Just thought I'd share some of my experiences.

Hi, just back from vacation. looks like the plan is in great shape, need to catch up with the details. Guess I can make it to the dinner, no passenger this time though, as my wife will be 6 months into pregnancy by then, she has had enough from #6 run
I'll let you know if I hear of, or see any, wierd stuff going on that weekend in the city that maight cause detours or other issues. How many do we think we'll be?
I admit to some trepidation about the hill stretches. I really hate being stuck on those hills. I usually time them so I can blast up without having to wait. I'll defintely be in the back, babying my clutch. HA
