Nikki Run #5 1/2? Kart Racing

We all know there are a couple of well documented things we can do to improve the performance of our Minis. The top 5 documented performance improvements are:

5) Intake/Exhaust
4) Pulley/Engine Management
3) Rear Swaybar
2) Tires and wheels

and the number one way to improve your Mini's performance is....
1) TRACK TIME!

Ok, the MotoringFile article says that #1 is really driving instruction but track time is just as good! So, we all know that driving on the track improves your overall driving skills so would anyone in the Nikki Run group be interested in coming together for kart racing at Go Kart Racer in Burlingame, Sunday, March 12th?
The cost is $45 for one session lasting 20 minutes.

It would be great to have everyone in the group meet up for some "spirited/all out driving" and go out for lunch afterwards. Should be good fun.

Are you interested? It will be a memorable experience no doubt!

Gee Brian, I really suck at Kart racing! For some strange reason, I always come in last . But, I would be willing to have a go at it again! Sounds like fun!

IN, that day or any day for that matter.

There's also another karting place, off 880/Mission Blvd. But GKR is better, with two tracks.

I'm game for this Monday, they do SuperTrack that day.

That sounds great. I've wanted to organize this with the MOASF group too. Can I post this on the MOASF site too?

Post away Doc!

The more Mini drivers we have the better. If we get more than 6, we should make reservations. So far we have:
- Brian (creeker)
- Escape Pod
- aminicooper
- Druidic Mojo
- dr. dave
- Wil
- Nikki
Should be a total blast! I'll call over there on Monday and get the scoop on the accommodations for medium sized groups.

I've booked with them before, usually they will want a credit card reservation and a signed contract.

Of the past times I've been there during the weekend, they're not that crowded during the daytime. I haven't had to wait for more than a session. I don't know how the crowds are at night. So, unless we're on a tight schedule, then we can just casually walk-in, and slot in for one of the nearest times when everyone shows up. There's two tracks, the one with the elevation change is fun. The other track has a fast sweeper.

There's also a 'license' fee, with it you get a headsock and one free practice on your birthday.

Oh, I think there's a 10-12 car limit per track.... so if we're a large group, we'd need to split up....

The provide driving suits, helmets (can bring your own), neck brace. Gloves are optional so bring your own. They have a locker room, $.25 use.

Oh, important... it's best not to race on a full stomach. Been there, done that.

Bad news, I have to go on a business trip and I won't be able to make it to the March 12th kart run. I hate it when work gets in the way of having fun!
Hopefully I can join you all some other time.

Sunday hours are 12noon to 8pm.
GKR's website with directions is:
http://www.gokartracer.com/directions.html

ADDRESS:
1541 Adrian Rd
Burlingame CA 94010
(650) 692-RACE (7223)

If we want to have lunch after, I suggest everyone arrives there promptly by noon and plan on eating around 2.

I think I'll have to pass...

But my wife probably works that day, and there's no room for Alison in the kart, and you all saw (and heard) how well she does in the arms of strangers last time....

But if anything changes, I could be a late add.....

Hey Guys,
Is this meet still on for this weekend?
It would be my first meet and am interested in showing up. Seeing what everyone else has done with their mini's! Oh, and race a little.

Any thoughts of just doing one race session or two practice sessions (one of each track)?

A few of us are meeting in Saratoga at Hiway 9 and BigBasin at 10-10:30am sunday. Then do a leisurely drive up skyline to Burilingame. We are meeting at the Bank of America Parking Lot. Come one, come all.

Due to circumstances beyond my control, my business trip was canceled and I’ll be able to make it on Sunday!

I'll be meeting the group in Saratoga at 10:30, then drive up to the track.

See you all on Sunday!
