Northern Newbie
Hi, I'm a new member of this forum as I have only had my MINI for a month. It's an 06 MC Space Blue w/ Silver roof and hood stripe and came with the cold weather and "premium" package. I absolutely love it! It replaced a 1998 Volvo V70 with 214K on the odo and that was the last in an unbroken string of 5 Volvos that I have owned since 1982. In addition, I have 2 Triumphs - a 1960 TR3A and a 1973 TR6.
I have been very active in NET (New England Triumphs) for quite a few years and am looking forward to adding to my motoring opportunities (and friends) through the MINI "world".
I have a question about how things work with events. Are there actual MINI clubs that exist IRL, or is the New England scene mostly cyber-space? If so, where are these clubs and how do you join?
I would love to organize an afternoon tour sometime later in the new year - I live in mid-coastal Maine (Bowdoinham) and would like to see a bunch of MINIs "motoring about" through the mysterious environs beyond Freeport and US Rte 1. Right now I'm thinking of a tour of maple syrup shacks on "Maine Maple Sunday" which is usually the 3rd Sunday in March.
And, finally, who are the other Maine MINI owners (MINIacs?) out there? I know there are quite a few of you as I see you on the road from time to time. Let's connect!

A lot of the New England Mini regional chatter can be found on MINI2's New York/New England forum here:

One of the local New England clubs is MAMA- Monadnock Area Mini Association
http://www.mini-mama.org/
One event you may want to keep in mind is Minis on Top, held for the past 4 years, and planned for 2007 on June 17, with a Mini drive up Mt Washington.

I hope that helps! Welcome to the world of Minis! There are quite a few British sports car fans in this group.

Welcome, and congrats on the new mini!
Yes, here in new england it is mostly cyber chatter on mini2 instead of organized clubs. Feel free to jump in. There are a lot of mini events in new england, large and small. I try to keep track of them at the motoring calendar on my website.

Welcome!!!! We're practically neighbors...lol I drive through Bowdoin every day to work. I'm always up for driving the MINI as long as there's not snow on the roads. Keep your eyes peeled for a Chili Red S convertible. I'll be sure to wave.
Why don't you stop in at www.oceanstateminis.com and visit, we're a very active club and have a great time online.
hope we see you there!!

Welcome, No I'm not from Maine and western Mass isn't all that close, but we MINIers (?) have to stick together.
An organized (somewhat) cruise would be great. New England is the most beautiful part of the country, so it makes sense to motor anytime of the year.

Thanks for the responses! I haven't signed-on for a couple of days so I'm sorry for the lack of replies. I joined MAMA by using one of the links posted above. I'm not sure I can keep up with all the MINI cyber clubs available. So far my favorites are this one (natch), MINIUSA, and the MAMA site. Many more than that and I wouldn't have time to acutally motor!
I definitely want to set up a "Maple Syrup Tour" in March here in Maine (but open to anyone from anywhere). I used to live in west-central Maine where Maine Maple Sunday is quite an event. Not only do you get to tour the sugar shacks (and the smell of the steam coming off of the evaporators is a real treat in itself), but there is plenty of free ice cream (with maple syrup poured over), doughnuts, coffee, and other quirky edibles to sample. I haven't thought this out beyond just wanting to do it, but it is now on my "to do" list to begin the planning.
Glad to be a part of the MINI community!!!

Just down the road
I am just down the road from you. Sort of. In Windham. We have had the car for over three years, and it still delights us. Still brings a smile to faces as we drive past.
Pepper white with black top. Sunroof, sport seats, 16 inch runflats. At the moment running 15 inch Dunlop snows on steel wheels.
Since the kid is home from college, I am driving an 01 V70. Certainly easier on these old kidneys on our winter roads.
