register mini bought out of state (RI)

I am picking up my mini from mini of peabody the last week of sept. I would liek to know who else has bought there mini's from out of state and how did u register it before you picked up the car? Did you have to do a vin check?

Any info or input would be of great help, mass no longer has a temp plate program so i will have no plates to drive the car home.

Did you get an answer?

When I picked up GPMINI in Monterey, I registered it in MA and got the plates before I went out.
I'd recommend if possible you do something similar, and get RI plates to put on it at MoP.

MOP should have no trouble with it. A large percentage of their sales are out of state, and they are probably the top seller to mass, ri, nh, vt, and maine. Ask your saleman or perhaps Vinny might know.

i talk to vinny he stated i would have to finish my finacing with him, then hewill fedex me al the paper work along with a temp power of attorney( as i am leasign the car) then i will go reg it and have to brign plates with me to pick up the car.

with that being said. RI laws are diff them mass in RI i have 2 week to ride on my plates from the prv car before i have to reg them on the new car. So i should beable to by law go get the car on these plates and then reg when i get back home. however agian the car is being leased so mini might have something to say about that.

I bought mine from MOP and I stopped at our DMV and picked up a transfer tag. This allowed me to drive my car to Maine and then get it licensed and registered within so many days (up to 10 I think for Maine). I didn't find all this out till the night before I was due to pick up the car. Most places give you a temp plate. MOP does not.

I don't think it's MINI of Peabody so much as Massachusetts that prevents temporary tags

I bought my MINI from MOP. I had to show my state registry the bill of sale, title, and mileage statement. (MOP mailed me all this.) Then I paid sales tax and they gave me my plates, which I took with me to pick up the car.

i got it done.. mop gave me everything i needed when i picked up the car then i went the registry and took car of it all was that easy... what the gave me that was the key was a temp power of attorny from BMW. I ri we have 14 days with your old plates on a new car as long as you carry a bill of sale with you.

oh Ian!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have waited 3 years for my chance to be a mini owner and it is more then i could have ever imagined... The experiance of purchase was exellent, i live in Ri so i took the train with my wife and 5 yr old daughter to Beverly where joel picked us up. Joel had a stuffed bull dog waiting for my daughter in the car. It was the easiest most hassel free purchase i have ever made. I cant say enough about MOP. If you see joel soon tell him thanks again.. Wife and i are already thinking of our next mini(cabrio next time)

First weekend with the car we racked up 350 miles. It has now been several weeks and i still havent stopped smiling. I could go on forever.

I first spoke with you almost 3 years ago regarding your bad tweeter experiance and you directed me to MOP, so i owe you some thanks as well. Hope to have your auto up soon as our first mod.
