NJ DRIVERS! Why so many restricting laws?!?
NJ DRIVERS! Why so many restricting laws?!?
I'm asking all the NJ drivers, Do you find it frustrating that NJ has so many restrictiing laws?
We can't tint the front passenger and driver windows.
Tints can be more than 20%.
Front and Rear plates?!?

Thats funny, I was just over at Prestige MINI today up in North NJ talking to their parts guy about FRONT PLATE requirements in NJ. He said that the only time he's known the police to actually penalize drivers for NOT having the front plate is when they're stopped for some other violation.
I think having the plate up there takes away from the clean lines of the MINI's smile. I would imagine not too many people are driving in reverse when being chased by the police, know what I mean
As far as the tint, we were stopped a couple of years ago with one of our other cars - an ACTUAL TINT CHECKPOINT if you can believe it. They made us remove the tint right then and there. Not Sexy.
On a closing note, there was a SMOKING blonde sitting in the Prestige MINI waiting area today. If you're reading this, my number is 1-800-HOW YOU DOIN'.

Dreamweaver, Used to live in NY, got my first MCS from Prestige. Don't enjoy the front plate requirement! Moved down to Atlanta...got my second MCS, they didn't even drill holes in the front bumper for the bracket, lovin' it.
As for tint....there is no longer any tint laws in Georgia, i guess they got lifted a few months back, but i'm sure something will be passed shortly, but i'm going to take advantage of it while it lasts :-)
BriNYU - hahaha 1800 how u doin' is the best number EVER.

Also if you do not have plates and your car is parked you can expect a ticket (this happened to a few friends). I have heard (though cannot confirm) that someone was pulled over just for not having front plates in NJ.
Cheers...

I can't stand New Jersey's laws. I love my MINI to death but MINI's with without front plates or Euro plates are by far the hottest. My brother had a Europlate on his Jetta and in about 6 monthes he got pulled over twice. Both times by the same state trooper. I think the ticket was about $40-50 but he made him remove the plate then and there.

I don't mind, cause I'm doing something about it. Next year at this time my house will be on the market in preparation for my move to Texas. One thing I have really enjoyed about NJ is the real estate appreciation over the last 5 years I've been here.
