Event: Informal Boston area MINI gathering
Date: Saturday, 11/16
Time: 10:00 am through lunch
Meeting place: MINI Peabody (www.minipeabody.com), Peabody, MA

What's happening: Join us for a "drive and dine" gathering of Boston-area MINI owners (future owners are welcome too! So if your new Baby is still on order you can still join in the fun).

MINI Peabody has graciously offered to have us gather on
their premises to kick off the drive. So this allows us to meet each other, check out the cars and even poke around the showroom or parts/accessories counter. Some time between 10:30 am - 11:00 am, we'll head out on a yet to be determined route. We'll have some fun motoring on some nice scenic roads and end up in Essex, MA at the Red Barrel Pub for lunch. We understand they have a vintage Mini on display there, so it seems quite fitting. Bring the whole family and don't forget
a camera.

Please see the MINI Peabody website for directions to the dealership.

Also, please post here or email (ronda.billings@streamserve.com) if you're planning to be there so we get a sense for the numbers.

We look forward to meeting lots of MINI owners.

(I'll also post this in the MINI Talk section since that seems to get more traffic).

Smashing. Count me in...

I need to locate MINI of Peabody anyway, so that when I flee Boston for service, I know where I'm going.

Thanks for organizing this!

Awesome! My MC is not scheduled for delivery until January, but I'll be there!

One question, though -- since I don't have my Mini yet, my husband wants to bring his vintage Porsche (weather permitting, of course). Would we be allowed to motor with y'all? We promise we'll behave and play nice with the other kids!

Excellent! I will be there... I already have pictures of my MINI at the
Red Barrel, but I guess a few more won't hurt...

As far as I'm concerened, vintage Porsches are always welcome anywhere...
The more the merrier!

Motorin Girl - Absolutely! The more the merrier is right, we just may have the Porsche pulling up the rear if that's Ok with you.

See ya Sat!

Chris - Trust me, flee Herb Chambers MINI now! Don't wait! Don't look back, take you're MINI to Peabody where they know what the word "Service" means, you won't regret it. Learn from my bad experiences, Herb Chambers MINI would know SERVICE if it bit 'em in the ***!

See ya then!

Count me in too ...

Has MINI of Peabody set a limit to the number of people that can come?

I will bring some stuff from the recent British Motor Show (nothing exciting, and no pics of the great stunt drivers due to poor camera/lighting).

Thanks, PureSilver -- we're more than happy to bring up the rear!

See you Saturday!

P.S. I'm getting my car through Herb Chambers, too. Looks like I'll be defecting to Peabody as soon as it arrives!

They said they can handle up to 40 cars. On such short notice, I don't think we will get that many, but it would be GREAT if we did!

I'll let you all know later in the week if we are getting close to that limit.

I'm in as long as it's not raining or real crummy weather.
Already posted over at mini2 so don't count me twice.
Any one else from the Cape?

Great CCM.

At this point, no others from the Cape to my knowledge, but I'll let you know if that changes.

Unfortunately I have a brunch commitment that I thought was on Sunday, but is actually Saturday... I doubt I can extract myself from it, so for now I'm going to have to retract my RSVP. I'd love to be involved with any events around here in the future, but the notice for this one was just a few days too short. Have fun, everyone!

It's too bad that it's short notice. I won't be able to go as I'm planning on meeting 'Mini Queen' of Westchester motors to pick up an extra set of wheels.

I know everyone will have fun and having it at a great dealer too. I got mine at Peabody. Any chance of having another bash there later in the month or early next month ?, I'll bring the hot dog's. :???:

Are these used wheels or does MINIQUEEN have a deal that can't be found at, say, Peabody?

When I contacted MINI of Peabody to ask if we could meet there, they pointed out that they were having some sort of "accessory sale for Christmas" on Saturday, Dec 7 in the afternoon. We could make a point of all showing up at the same time and eat some hot dogs while we shop for accessories.

Weather predictions looking worse and worse for this weekend ...
Are people going to get together anyway, or is the event going to be a washout?

We're watching the weather. I think we'll make a decision tomorrow (Fri) morning. We'll email and post with a confirmation or cancellation. I hope the storm slows and doesn't hit us until later in the day.

I may have to mount the snow tires a little early.

walkerjay: Welcome to the board! I had been looking for you after I ran into you at MINI Peabody about a month ago. (I was the woman gaping in amazement at your kickin' new system while The Matrix was playing through the DVD you hooked up through the GPS...remember me?)

Welcome to the board and looking forward to seeing that great MCS of yours on Sat. Can't wiat to see what you've added over the last month.

Is your wife coming with her Cooper?

Carl, I'm picking up a set of 17" Pireli run-flat tires and S lite rims New. The tires and rims came from different cars, so they should only have delivery miles on them. MiniQueen is going to have them mounted and balanced all for $1000.- I figured I'll keep them for spares.

We're ON! Even if it rains, snow or shines, we're going to meet.

See you at MINI of Peabody, 10am, Sat 11/16. Bring a camera and a raincoat!

Excellent ... see you there!
How many others?

I called in on "Red Barrel" on my way home tonight ... they normally do not open till 4pm on Saturday, but if we get a reasonable number of MINI owners, I have their phone numbers & they will open SPECIALLY for us!
So lets get lots of us down there ...

There are a TON of good restaurants up in that area... May I suggest that
perhaps we swing by Red Barrel for photos with the Mini and the double-decker
bus they have, and then find someplace else to eat? Farnhams' in Essex?
Clam Box in Ipswich? Maybe something in Gloucester? (Ian, any suggestions?)
Just a thought.

Pete,
I agree with you ... I am not sure that Red Barrel is the greatest place to eat, but it does have a real "baby" Mini and some typically English food & atmosphere!

I guess we can vote at MINI Peabody in the morning ... Essex has a great Chinese as well as Farnhams, Woodmans, etc; Gloucester has an excellent Thai and also Passports - main problems for them is parking.

See you all soon
