Hi Everyone,

On Sunday September 7th, we will be meeting (some may be rallying) to the Renaissance Fair in Tuxedo, NY. This would be a good opportunity for NY/NJ MINI owners to have some fun. For those unfamiliar with the Renaissance Fair, it's like entering the medival past, kinda like medival times...a good time for all (see http://www.renfair.com). After spending the day, it would be nice to rally around the area, passing by the scenic Greenwood Lake area, which is full of twisties. For those who are interested, please reply as soon as possible. Later.

Eric

That sounds like fun. I've always wanted to go to the NY Ren Fair. Count me in.

Hello all,

I know the area well...my mother grew up in Tuxedo Park, and as a kid we spendt some summers there. The fair is great , my wife goes every year. She's actually going on Sat. Over the years I got kinda bored w/ it...but now there'seems to be another reason to attend ...lol.
The SELF-parking lot is a decent size and a good place to meet.
I'll certainly gonna try to attend.

BTW...
Before you reach the entrance to the fair ..you will pass the entrance to Tuxedo Park. Take the time and drive thru it...You might have to mention a name to get in...use "Hoffman".

A funny story is...... Woopie Goldberg now owns my Aunts house...too funny huh..

Peace,
D

I love the Ren. Fest! Havent' been for probably 4 years though. If I have my car by then I'd love to go. For some reason Sept. 7 rings a bell so I'm hoping I don't have some other commitment that day that I'm forgetting about.

D? Would you take us on a MINI tour of Tuxedo? You could give us the classic tour-guide schpiel over the two-way radios.

My sister is really into the whole Ren fair thing - she's actually working in costume there on Sunday. She enjoys dressing like a "wench" (her term, not mine)

Don't know how long a drive you're looking for but there are some really nice roads right across the border in NJ running past the Wanaque reservoir, Ringwood Manor state park and Skylands botanical gardens.

Have to check my calendar. It resides in the minds of several other people. If that's clear (and it should be by MY recollection) then I am so IN. Last and only renaissance fair I would have attended was cancelled for lack of funds. I think it's really the drive I'm in for. But suprise me!

I would luv it, but I'm sure if more than 2 mini's showed up they would not let us in... It's very exclusive and a bit stuffy unfortunately, but absolutely beautiful.
it's a communtiy built around a lake and all the homes are built facing the lake going up a mountain..
Picture a "funnel" and the lake being at the bottom of the funnel.

Peace,
D

Maybe we could go two at a time. We could meet inside the park or we could download maps. They'd never catch on. We can alternate Hoffman and Goldberg. They couldn't possibly see through our ruse.

d-mini-ero,

There was a book published recently about a wealthy eccentric who lived in Tuxedo Park and was instrumental in implementing the science that helped win WWII: Alfred Loomis.

I suggest we enlist koolmini to take us on one of his bad-ess impromptu rally routes. Nobody knows the ins and outs of the area like him.

I have no interest in the fair, but I love to drive!! Will you designate a time and place for the after-fair motoring?

Actually, I HATE the fair. But I'd love to get together for the ride after.

And, I need to correct that... Who was it who took back roads and met up with KoolMini and crew, from the OTHER DIRECTION, during the Bear Mountain run?

I could show us roads that would have Ant's screaming for a skid plate, or the rest of us freaking at the twisties. It's not David or me, it's the roads. They're there, ya just gotta get to know them

David

DUCTTAPE!!! Let's meet at the little park-and-stand below the Bear Mountain in sometime in the afternoon so we can have mustered a taste of what you hate and then tear up some tarmac.

I am due to receive my new MCS Sept. 6th. Would love to join you guys on the 7th. I'm interested more in the rally than the fair since it will be only my second day with the MCS and I'm sure I'll want to drive it.

Oh well. Can't imagine really diging that scene or driving all the way out there for free tickets to it. My car's in the shop wednesday or I'd meet you at the show on bear.

Are there any MINI folks who'd like two of the tickets cuz that's the only reason I'd want one. I also have a mailing address, David...
