TomTom One or Garmin C330?

Hi All,

I have been researching around a while. On the fence.

TomTom One or Garmin Streetpilot C330.

They both meet price and options.

I like the TomTom form factor, but worried about map updates. Understand the the TeleAtlas maps are a bit old. Can any TomTom One owners chime in on this? Have any of you received map updates?

They C330, flawless from what I have read, and would seem an obvious choice, but want to remain a bit open to choice.

Thanks!

Trent

I have a TomTom One I like it. The map updates are a snap. All you do is use the supplied software link to TomTom's website and plug the tomtom into your p/c using the supplied USB adapter. Clear Voice Instructions. It is acurate and gets s signal always anywhere. I would buy it again if I had it over again.Im actually looking to sell mine soon. Since the Mini won't be here much longer.

Where in Cypress do you live???? I live in the back of Forest Lawn Cemetary down Cresent.

Thanks for the info on the tomtom! Its a tough choice to make, but will be with something maybe by the end of the week. Both the tomtom and the garmins are nice units. Have you ever had any issues with old or out of date info/maps? How about bad directions/navigation?

Im not too far from you, on Orange near Bloomfield. I may have spoken to your folks once at the Ralphs around the block. They said that their son owned a green cooper. They were driving a white suburban/tahoe.

I have a PW/B 02 cooper, and usually running around all over. Maybe see you around town sometime!

Thanks,

Trent

The TomTom hasn't given me any wrong directions as of yet. I've used it for awhile now. Trips so far to San Fran., Reno, Scotsdale, and denver. Not one problem. Even in the mountains in snowy weather it got a signal.

It probably was my parents. I believe they shop at that Ralph's and they do drive a white gmc yukon. Ive probably seen you around, I try to wave at every possible Mini.

I have a Garmin Street Pilot C530 and love it. Garmin continues to make updates online for the unit itself and the maps are updated I think more so than TomTom. The unit is quick and accurate and much better than my previous StreetPilots. The battery life is good and the unit tucks in nicely in the lower left hand corner of the windshield. The only complaint I have about it is when your in map view and in a trip it does not show the speed. I'd give it a A- grade. Hope this helps.

I have a Tomtom Go 510 and its been great. I work in alot of areas that are off the map and my Tomtom has every dirt road, county road and roads I never thought it would pick up...well guess what. They are there. I never thought I would have that much use for it but I have it on daily now and would be lost without it.

I also vote for the tomtom one. It has worked great so far and I like the compact size. It is small enough to carry it when I go into NY city as it was a "walking route". The other cool feature is for a couple hundred bucks more you can get the europe maps which I use for my business travels. We are also planning to use it when my brother does ED on his 335 coupe

Congratulations on making your navigation decision. I have and love the Garmin 320, so I know that you will also love your 330! How are you planning on mounting it? I just bought a friction dash mount. I tried the suction cup, but it kept coming loose. Good luck and Happy Motoring!

HI Kay,

I have it mounted via the suction cup and so fdar has been ok. It fell off yesterday after being in the sun for a breif period of time. How does the friction mount work? Do you by any chance have a pic of it mounted in your MINI?

In the short time I have had my C330, I have to say I love it! I mamaged to upload my first customer POI yesterday, and it seems to have worked! It is a great device!

Cheers!

Trent

Trent......
Here is a link to the amazon page that describes the dash mount.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/cus...&s=electronics

It really does stay put on top of your dash. Mine hasn't moved and I have tried all sorts of twisty curves and turns to check it out. Of course, I am a rather conservative driver!! Much better than the suction mount, at least for me!!!!!!! I have to agree with you, for the relatively cheap prices, you cannot beat these garmin 320's and 330's. I too love mine. Sorry, I don't have a picture of mine in the Mini Cooper.
