Check out the audio/nav forum. I think I have read a similar thread. I believe the concensus was putting an OEM unit in a car that doesn't have one is price prohibitive. BUT there are lots of after market solutions.
Good luck.

Its possible, but would be very hard. Unless it has the cockpit chrono.

You can try a search, but I'm pretty sure it (OEM Nav) hasn't been done. The big issue is the wiring harness/tach/odo change (if you could find a Nav unit and screen for less than a small fortune.
Lots of good portable Nav units out there. Not OEM, but far more cost effective.

If you're looking to add a Nav/DVD unit, try newministuff.com - Mikey is the most knowledgeable MINI stereo person I know of.

I had to look for 3 months to find a MINI with the Chrno in it that had low milies so it can be done if you can be patient enough. Like people have said theres lots of good after market ones you can always get.

Check out the Pioneer Avic units. Very impressive and would cost less than OEM nav.

They offer nav, dvd, cd, real time traffic, xm capable, back up camera capable...etc...

They run about $10000-1500 on ebay...about $1800 new I think.

I would install an aftermarket NAV unit again if I got a MINI because I am not happy with the OEM NAV unit. Don't waste your $1500+ on trying to install the OEM NAV unit.

Say it ain't so! Just curious Mark - you seemed to have been very "into" your OEM Nav before - what has changed your opinion?

It has a lovely way of giving incorrect directions. "Turn right onto..." When I can see it's obviously a left. Or the timing of the directions is off by a hundred yards (not feet). Also its form of a fast route is skewed, damn thing takes me the oddest ways...

That's strange, I don't have many problems with mine. Most of my problems are caused by the maps being out of date - new overpasses and exit changes, etc.

In order for the double din to fit you would probably need to get rid of the A/C

to fit a dubble din you need to move the a/c controls to the top and move the swtch pannel down.

No experience in the mini, but for a E46 M3 I was able to retrofit the factory NAV system. You'll have to get a dealer that's willing to work with you to get all the correct parts, it's about 3 hours of work that requires to remove lots of trim and install a new harness along with the Nav parts..... it costed over $3K to do this.....probably not worth it in a 20K car.....
