it definitely rattles the license plate A LOT! i need to put some deadening material behind the boot door
FYI, a simple fix for rattling license plates is rubber washers under the mounting bolts......

I spent the last week or so looking for a subwoofer setup that can provide the bass I want but without having a giant box or super expensive price tag. I wasn't looking to terrorize the neighborhood but I wanted a decent amount of bass. After going back and forth on what to do I decided to play with the settings on my Pioneer head unit as I remember reading on the specs that I could bridge the rear channel into one channel at 70 watts at 2 ohms. I have Pioneer's 6x9 in the back and Pioneer components in the front. I must say that I am glad I did this as the bass coming from the 6x9's is amazing. It also helps that the head unit has a lot of settings to play with.

Bass is clear, loud and punchy. Not as deep as my other car with a vented 10" sub with a 600 watts amp, but very well rounded bass considering the size of the speakers.

I think this is a very good option for people looking to save space and maximize the potential of the existing setup.

In all, I am only running a headunit without an external amplifier. From inside the car the system is very loud, so loud that everything shakes including the rear view mirror. Pioneer speakers are very efficient as their sensitivity is above 92 db.

Just my 2 cents for people looking for options.

Glad I found this thread. I'm having a new system installed in my MINI. The sub will be a JL Audio 10W6v2. All the gear will be with me by next week & will be talking to my installer regarding my options for the sub enclosure. We want it to be as small/practical as possible without sacrificing aesthetics

After talking to my installer, it seems my trunk will look something very similar to this but with the sub right-center & the amp left-center of the false floor. With the sub having a mounting depth of 6.9", I hope the false floor doesn't stick out upwards too much

Nothing show worthy, just functional. Mounted down and stable. Retain the spare, storage shelf, and trunk space.

Did the install myself. Designed the box in CAD to just fit the trunk area. This made cutting my pieces out of 3/4'' MDF quite easy. The Amp and the Cap are different depths. Each is sunk into the sub enclosure to allow flush mounting with the sub when the trim plate is put in place. Took an afternoon to cut the wood, build the box, upholster, and get the gear all wired up.

Here's my install in my 2008 R56. I've had this subwoofer/amp combo Rockford Fosgate P2D4-10/P3000.1 for over 7 years. Didn't want to get spend more money into it and get a shallow sub, which would have saved me much more space (about 3"). Anyways here are the pics. Also, I have a german shepherd that travels with me so I had to make this box with him in mind lol.

Here is mine. This was my first time doing any fiberglass work. Didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped but overall I'm happy with it. I may do another one down the line with better fitment and shape.

The enclosure extends into the cubby to gain a little more volume and it also helps to hold it in place. An Alpine PDX-V9 and Audison Bit Ten D are under the passenger seat.

Did the fiberglass molding in the car, stunk for a week.

Trimmed and test fitment.

Round 2 of 4 for bondo.

At home.

Grill on.
