Navigation & Audio Show pics of your subwoofer install!
Just flipping through past posts and realized I never put up my finished trunk after my past post. I am pretty happy on how it turned out and for my first fiberglass project, I think I did pretty good. I'm looking forward to working on my friends Audi and hooking him up with a custom 2 12" box.

After reading all 10 pages......I'm jealous. Picked up the Mini on friday and I have piles of audio equip from older cars: JL Subs, DLS amps and speakers, Alpine.....all just waiting to figure out how to be installed ....for some reason I always hold onto everything.
Great installs everyone......hopefully I can get this system sounding just the way I like it.
To everyone that did the "In the floor" installation....how did you deal with the battery? Isn't it under there? Any tricks to get extra space?

Like this one?
Very simple and very clean. Exactly what I wanted. TMA amp, with a 10" Kicker. Custom down fire box, trimmed out to a level false floor. I went with a JVC deck that has the front USB port...having all my tunes on a flash drive is the best thing ever! I am very happy with the install, and it sounds terrific using the stock H/K speakers with new crossovers installed.

I see you used a RE Audio SL series. I'm reading up on it. What do you think of it so far?
RE SL10
What RE sub is that? I want to do something like your setup. You have any pics or a build thread? I mostly listen to Tool, Rise Against, Dave Matthews, Flobots, Blink 182 and stuff like that but some car shaking bass from a RE would be sweet.

It's also vital to get it good, clean power. I use a Genesis P4 Ultra, giving 200w to the SL, and 200w to the components, and it is wicked. I looked at a lot of amps, and only a handful would I consider.
I have build pics which I will get around to posting, or can email. I really loved putting this system together with my installer, and am very, very pleased. Let me know if you have any other questions
D-
Well...
Aside from what I already posted, their isn't a whole bunch more to post of the actual sub, though I do have a few shots of the door installs, as well as the SRI converter under the seat. Also having some trouble actually uploading...
Most of these with sub in the floor of the boot are R50 coopers which have the bettery where you would find it normally. Hence a nice little void is there if you remove the "tire repair kit".
As for stuff needed for installs complete including deck your gonna need the mounting bracket, an anttena extender, and a how too which is posted somwhere in the audio forums. One thing to keep in mind is that there is a red ACC wire that runs from your deck. Easy place to put that is to the cigarette lighter under the console. This will allow the radio to turn on and off with your car.

i'd post my pics up but for the life of me i cannot find anywhere to run the power cable through the firewall, i'm sure my cooper just doesn't have any wires running from engine-cabin, or if it does then my god they're well hidden
I'd really like some more information on yor install...
Do you possibly have any pictures of underneath the box? Do you know how much airspace you have in there?
Also how did you get that top piece to fit. I notice it contours to the indentations of the plastic on the sides. How did you get it in there?

To build a coverboard like the above post has on his amp and sub I always make a template out of cardboard. You use a sharpie, scissors, and some time with trimming and trial and error until you make the piece fit perfectly. Then you get some hardboard and trace the template and cut with a jigsaw. Sand the edges and carpet it. To attach a hardboard that is carpeted you can velcro it down but I prefer to cut small slits in the carpet with a knife, screw it down then with a touch of glue secure the carpet back over the screw, and rub it until the line disappears. I still need to build my coverboard for my install I'm just being lazy with it. I will grab pics when I do it.
heres my install... not quite as neat as many of the others!
its two JL 10w3 and a JL 500/1 slash amp
just recently built the box myself... since i have a convert it basically takes up the whole trunk :p

before carpet

after carpet.
it definitely rattles the license plate A LOT! i need to put some deadening material behind the boot door

That makes much more sense because I built one but the box wouldn't fit past the plastic (near the seats where its narrower).
What material is the hardboard you're using?

it's a warning triangle box
