XM radio through AUX?

So i rescently installed the aux cable so i can get my I-pod to work. Did it myself and had the faceplate mounted right above the cig lighter as others have done...

I am wondering if there is a kit that will allow me to just use my aux to get XM? I heard there is a magnetic antena you can install and it works... please help me!

Not really sure what you're asking " a kit that will allow me to just use my aux to get XM" but I'll take a stab at it.

Yes you can get a kit for xm, there are many to choose from! Since you want to use the aux jack, that would mean the Skyfi or Roady (don't know about the Myfi), as xm direct uses the CD wiring in the rear. I have the roady and it works great. Comes with the antenna and enough wire to go around the car twice . I have mine plugged into the aux jack no problems! You will have to subscribe for the service and that runs $12.99 per month for the first radio, 6.99 for each additional.

Do a quick search and you'll find more then enough info to make a decision.
Good luck

I think you're looking for one of the plug n play kits... It'll work just fine with the Aux adapter. But, you won't have any integration with your headunit, and will need to have the controller mounted somewhere... However this is a popular option and works quite well.

Can I jump in here and suggest Sirius. It really is better. But to answer the question just get a system Sirius or XFM that has a audio out. I have the Sportster Replay from Sirius and its plugged into the Aux in. Sounds great.

Thanks for the help all.

Ninjamini, where did you put the antenna? Or is it built into the actual unit you plug into the AUX input?

When I was using a Sirius PnP on my Cooper, I stuck the antenna on the dash. It worked well, just had to make sure it wasn't too close to the windshield or the windshield wiper blocked the signal.

Many stick the antenna either on the back deck or on the roof next to the FM antenna...

I just plug into my aux input with a direct line from my XM receiver...I got the Delphi $89 unit. Then I just put the antenna up on the dash when I am using it. It's a little wire and other than it travelling up from one of the support pipes from the power plug area...it looks great. The receiver fits great in the smaller cup holder! You can also choose the same color backlighting as on our dashes.

Love XM....XM Music Lab, Fine Tuning, Beyond Jazz and Classical.

Sirius PnP Installation using AUX Input

Here's my Sirius installation. I'm using the AUX input.

Here's a photo of the Terk Sirius antenna mounted on my dash:

Here's a picture of the Kenwood Sirius PnP unit below the toggle panel:

Where in the world can I put the XM antenna on my convertible????:impatient

I think I'm going to get a BlitzSafe unit and not put another piece of equipment hanging around the dash. Besides, I don't really want all the wires running everywhere.

But if anyone has any other suggestions...I have a Roady2.

Mine's on the dash and you can't see a single wire.
