SIRIUS "Scroll On" not working...

I installed the integrated Sirius unit last weekend (antenna & receiver) and everything works just fine except the "Scroll On" function. I have the OEM MINI HU and I followed the instruction manual (many times): press the INF button for 3 sec until the * appears (*INF) which is when the scroll on is supposed to be working. Well, it doesn't. It continuously shows the Channel name only. The artist/song info will display if I press the INF button each time, but there's no scrolling action.

Is this a head unit issue or a receiver issue? If it's a HU issue then it should be covered under warranty, right? If it's a reciever issue I'm not sure what my options are since I did the install myself. Any advice?

Thanks!

I have a hunch that it is a hardware problem. Take it to the dealer, show them what it is doing (or not doing) and let them go from there. If they ask who installed the Sirius receiver, tell them. But there is no need to volunteer that information first.

I never received the manual for my Sirius but mine doesn't scroll text either. I don't think the unit can as I've never heard of anybody being able to do this...

It's working properly. The display doesn't really scroll.
Hold down INF to set scroll on. Then press info until you see the artist or title. If that text is longer than the screen, it will show the second half after a second. More of a toggle than a scroll. And of course it won't stay like that, it will go back to station name shortly. Yeah, it's crap. I don't bother with the scroll function, Its usually easier just to fill in the blank when seeing the first half.

Thanks, All! I have sent an email off to Classic MINI where I bought the unit. Depending on what they say, I'll either send the receiver back or take the car to a local dealer (not my first choice, for sure!).

Josh- I understand what you're saying, but mine won't flash the artist/song info at all unless I hit the INF button manually EACH time. I can turn the scroll function on and it then displays "Scroll On" but then it goes back to channel name and stays there. Something is definitely suspect.

Thanks again! I'll post if I get any good info from Classic.

they don't "scroll" (like XM does) I think the scroll is when you push the inf button, it scrolls if the artist/title is too long

both of my cars do this, Classic installed one, and I installed the other

Actually from the way he describes it... That's normal behavior...

Hmmm... if it's manual every/all the time then what's the point of having a (supposed) scroll function? Doesn't make sense to be able to select scroll if it intentionally doesn't do that at all.

Most OEMs choose to disable scrolling from their radios. For safety reasons.

The RDS on my radio scrolls. I don't have the MINI Sirius tuner, so I don't know if it does. I may have to rethink my plan to switch to the MINI tuner...

Right. That is exactly how it's supposed to work!

All the scroll does is allow a "second and third" screen for each display (only a couple of times). So when you hit inf to show the artist, if it is longer than the display, it will show a second screen with the rest of the artists name. THen it will go back to the channel name. Same thing for Title. With the scroll off, it will just show what will fit on a single screen.
