2006 mini s hk enabler help

Hello everyone, I bought a 2006 mini s with harmon kardon installed, problem is the volume **** doesn't work, have to keep turning it till it rises or lower in volume, plus I want to install a pioneer with Bluetooth so I don't have to get a fm transmitter, problem is I think I need a hk enabler to power up the amp otherwise I won't get sound. I need 1 asap cause I want to give this car to my daughter for xmas, her first car and she has always wanted a cooper, I can't find anyone in the states selling a hk enabler, anyone know if I can get 1 in the country? Or ways to go direct to the amp and bypass it so I can get sound? I don't want to replace amp and speakers, also need to open the passenger door panel cause it won't open from the inside, only from the outside, I'll figure that 1 out, but getting the amp to work would be much appreciated

I know it's probably too late, but I had the same issue. The problem wasn't the amplifier or the unity. But that the plastic insert inside the rubber **** was broken, and it was slipping. I bought a cheap one on ebay to replace it, and that solved the problem.

OK, since we're reviving this one and I had to find the same H-K enabler for my daughter's R52S to straighten out the previous hack of an audio installation. The H-K enabling adapter I used was the AX-BM9112. More details one what I had to do to correct the installation and get an H-K amp working is here:

Does the AX-BM9112 adapter ONLY work with the Pioneer system you installed or is it compatible with other head units?

It can work with other headunits, as well. The specs/manual is online and will have more details.

Is there any special trick to getting the volume **** off, or do you just pull hard on it straight out? I have the same volume **** issue (doesn't work unless you spin it a ton while pushing on it sideways to change the volume). The volume controls on the steering wheel work perfectly (as does the rest of the stereo system), I just can't get the **** to work right.

There was like a metal clip inside, If I recall correctly. I just pulled it out with needle nose pliers, and the new one clipped on.

Thanks! I pulled my volume **** off using needle nose pliers and when I turned the metal post coming from the head unit, the volume still didn't change as expected. My issue must be with something inside, not the **** itself.

It did, the metal sleeve stayed inside the ****. It's definitely not the ****, it must be the contacts inside the head unit.

The solder joints where that rotary encoder attaches may have cracked. You could re-heat/re-flow thise with a soldering iron. Of course you'd need to tear down that far into the radio ti gain access to check.
