SiriusXM "Aquiring"
SiriusXM "Aquiring"
I recently added my "new-to-me" 2008 Mini Cooper to my SiriusXM account. The radio ID was was activated onto my account, but when I try to use it in the car, it constantly says, "Aquiring". No Music, or no noise at all. Someone told me that I need to do a "Hard Reset" on the SiriusXM receiver. I have searched and searched, but I have found nothing about doing a hard reset. I know that the receiver is under the passenger seat, along with the TPMS module. I removed the front seat without unplugging the air bag wiring, (Oh yeah, that's another story), and have unplugged the receiver wiring, and also the antenna. Still - NO GOOD!!!
If anyone has any recommendations, I would love to hear them. Thanks in advance.

So, as I feel like I am talking to myself, and also answering the question that I asked. I would like to let everyone know what I found out about my SiriusXM Acquiring problem. I decided to take the dive into getting to the SiriusXM Receiver that is located under the passenger seat. It's not really that complicated of a "Search and Rescue", but without disconnecting the Air Bag Wiring Harness, it can be a little difficult to hold the seat with one hand and to remove all of the screws that it "requires" to get the cover off of the module compartment. But I digress. Once inside, and I removed the SiriusXM receiver I removed the satellite antenna cable that was attached to the receiver. If you take the cover off of the module, you will see inside that there is a Pink antenna plug on the holds the "antenna" wiring harness to the module. I removed that pink plastic antenna plug from the module, and replaced the antenna with one that I had left over from another car SiriusXM radio. Once you get that little plastic cover off of that factory SiriusXM receiver for the antenna plug, there will be a little silver "plug" that you can plug any aftermarket SiriusXM antenna into. Immediately after plugging my antenna in, I stated getting the channels that I was supposed to be getting from my SiriusXM subscription that I have with them.
I will admit, that I was very careful when removing that little pink plastic adapter from the radio module. I have good intentions of potentially replacing, either the "antenna" wiring harness; or the base of the antenna as soon as I can. I am all about Factory OEM, so I would want the new harness to fit exactly has it would once I find out if it is the antenna base its self, or the actual wiring going from the car somewhere to the antenna base.
But for right now, I do have a working SiriusXM radio in my little Cooper with the magnetic satellite antenna that would have come with some cheap satellite radio that I would have got for a car that wouldn't have even had SiriusXM as an option.
If you have any questions. comments, or concerns; please leave a reply. I would love to hear what everyone else is doing to fix this. LOL. If anyone wants their SiriusXM to work, I guess that is.

Was that the fix?
I am doing the same.. I just purchased a SDARS module, got it wired in. The first module was bad, had to buy another... this one lights up the MOST fiber, and the rest of the radio is working again. but after attempts at coding, I am getting the same 'Acquiring' and nothing more when selecting SAT.
I had tested my antenna before with a combi radio the Sirius worked but not the Bluetooth, so I went back to trying a SDARS module.
I think I am having a coding problem, It keeps reverting to SAT_Prep code..so I must me doing something wrong. I was thinking somewhere the antenna controller dont know about the sat module?
So wondering if replacing your wiring worked for you?
a post I left in a coding thread:
...Is there anyone that could help a noob figure out why I cant get my coding to take? I am trying to install a Sirius module in a 2010 MINI, I got the radio to show Satellite as an option.
I have tried to delete $693 and add $655 in NCS Expert It seems to take it, but when I clear out the work folder and relaunch it still shows $693 and not $655.
If I select SAT it just says acquiring and wont let me do anything else.
My last fa.trc : R56_#0909&FKDW%0A62*MF33$1CA$205$210$249$255$258$2 N1$2VB$300$302$313$314$319$322$325$345$382$3AV$423 $431$450$473$481$493$494$4AU$4CP$4CS$4UF$520$521$5 22$534$550$563$5AA$5DT$645$674$693$6FC$6NE$785$7HB $823$842$845$853$876$8SM$925$927-B070-EWS4
I have tried NCSDummy, which I think is how I got the radio to display the SAT, I have also manually deleted the $693 and added $655 and processed ecu FRM & CAS.
as well as manually deleted the $693 and added $655 and processed car.
I have been working on this carefully, for months...really afraid of killing the car.
Anyone?

aquiring..
My problem turned out to be a bad Sirius module, the replacement came in today. Plugged it in and came right up with the Sirius phone number and ID. went on line and activated it and after 15 mins it was working again.
I think I still need to adjust the VO/Fa and save it to the CAS and FRM,
I will have to do the backups of the original files first using NCS Expert.

Hi, I am having a similar issue and dealer has diagnosed it be a bad satellite module. They are quoting 1600$ to replace the module under the seat. I can get a used one from eBay for under 100$. Question: do I need to reprogram anything after installing replacement module? Also, I assume any of the following part numbers would work, correct?
Part Number: 65129278266Supersession(s): 65-12-9-278-266; 65129162994; 65129192273; 65129192274; 65209162993

Yeah, $1600 is amazingly expensive..
If your system was working before, It should still be coded properly. So, swapping the bad module for a good module should work. You probably will have to contact Sirius and let them know the new module serial number and get it attached to your account.
Good Luck!

Yes, since it was working originally, the new module just needs to be registered to Sirius (call the phone number and give them your account# and tell them the new Serial number) . My car never had Sirius, and I have to make programming changes to the car to recognize the SDARS module, as well as complete the wiring to make it all work. Since yours was good till the module failed, swapping the module should be all you need, then call Sirius.
8 years ago, I bought my 2013 MCS new, since I didn't buy the SXM option, I discovered they left a cable out on purpose.
If I remember correctly, I bought a cable to go from the receiver under the seat, to the junction inside the passenger side kick panel.

My 2010 Camden was also lacking some wiring for this. I added and rewired accordingly. I have posted a drawing in the Electrical forum on this.
