SiriusXM subscription rates

Greeting and happy holidays to all!

My free SiriusXM subscription will be expiring in a few weeks. I've received a renewal letter and they've been calling although I have yet to answer as I'm not sure whether I'm going to renew or not. I do love the Sat radio and probably listen to it more than my ipod but it is a little expensive for my taste. I remember hearing quite a while back that they will negotiate their rates if you seem to be reluctant to renew....I'm wondering if anybody has any experience with this and, if so, what kind of rates were you able to secure. The plans listed on the letter are as follows:

Monthly: $14.49
Quarterly: $43.47
1 year: $159.39 (1 month free)
2 year: $304.29 (3 months free)
3 year: $449.19 (5 months free)

Thanks in advance for this and all other great info I gather from NAM!

Motor on!!!!

I had satellite radio on 3 of my vehicles before. After the initial free period, I never renewed. With Pandora and my iPod, I don't think it's worth it. It might if you spend lengthy periods of time driving though. I have heard that you could purchase lifetime subcriptions as well for around $700-800?

I've had satellite radio on my car and it has recently expired. I renewed it though because I spend alot of time driving for work. So it your not going to listen to it a lot. In my opinion its kinda of a waste. Before when I didn't spend as much time driving I thought i was useless and a waste of money, but now that I actually spend alot of time in my car its nice to have all those channels without commercials etc. Like IzzyG said if you have an ipod and pandora its kind of pointless to waste your money when you can have pandora for free!!!!!!!

Unless you don't have any service, then pandora does not work . And we lack some service here every now and then in Utah, which can be nice, don't get me wrong, but your pandora will stop working

I don't have Connected so Pandora is not an option for me. Frankly, when I got the car a year ago I figured that I'd use my free year and then let it pass....I didn't figure I would enjoy it as much as I do. I only go to my ipod when there's nothing playing that I like on any of my preset stations and I virtually never listen to any of my old broadcast stations.

I have had Sirius now for numerous years. I call them to cancel it EVERY time just before the subscription is expiring and tell them that I do not listen to it enough to warrant the cost. I tell them I received an offer in the mail for a subscription for 6 months for $25 and if they can do that then I will renew. It has worked every time.

Never ever renew right away. Instead, wait about a week or two after it expires and you'll receive a "once in a lifetime" offer of 6 months for $25.

I've done this many times. Many, many times.

I don't have connected either, but use pandora on my phone and the ipod connection to the car. It doesn't display the song, but that isn't a big deal to me. I can still use the controls to skip ahead and control the volume. The quality is about the same as satellite radio so I'll take it for what it is.

I just renewed my subscription two days ago. My service ran out and I was without it for 9 days before they sent me an offer in the mail.

Pay for the year in advance and they give you 6 months free plus waive the $15 activation fee.

It works out to about $94 for the year and can be paid in two payments spread one month apart. That's only about $8 per month which is pretty cheap.

So I'd suggest waiting until your subscription runs out and wait a week or so for them to send you a great offer in the mail. Or just call in and ask for a similar deal to mine if they don't send you anything.

Don't have an ipod either....Company provided BB so Pandora isn't a player.

Great info here about letting it expire....Just what I was looking for, thanks!!

Thanks for the heads up for this. I might pay that kind of money, but there's no way it's worth the full price to me for my usage. It was nice on the drive to and from MITO this year though
