Amp under the R53 front seats?

Hello all. I'd like to install amps under the front seats of my R53. I've seen a few photos suggesting that there may be a void under the front seat carpets?

Before I go to the trouble of pulling out the seats I thought I'd ask here: Is there a space that would give more room (between the bottom of the seat and the floor) under there?

Thanks for any info you are able to give me!

-Tony

Plenty of room under the front seats. I fit an Alpine PDX-V9 and Audison Bit Ten D under my passenger seat. One picture is with just the amp. The second is from test fitting the Bit Ten.

Disconnect battery before dealing with seats & airbags.

Note that if you have Navigation, its DVD player occupies the space under the passenger seat

Hey, I just came across your pics and was curious…I’ve completely removed the HK system in my R53; all new components, wiring, amp, head unit, etc. Currently have my Kenwood amp mounted where the HK was located. I like this idea, under the seat, and was unaware of the space there. How do you handle the heat from the amp? Does it stay relatively cool? Appreciate your time! Thx!

When I first installed it, I would put a hand on it after a long drive and it would be warm but never hot enough where I couldn't leave my hand on it. I don't drive it very hard though, my ears hurt long before it maxes out.

Thanks for the info! I live in Florida, and the AC is usually running; typically split between the upper and lower vents. I figure with the cool air running across the top of the amp, that would help keep the temps in check. The original location isn’t too ideal given the limited mounting point of the HK system and the design of my new amp. Thanks again for the reply!
