So you didn't get the factory navigation when you got your Mini, well I didn't either. I just figured that I would just use my phone. Now I have changed my mind and want to add a portable GPS (looking at a Nuvi 2589LMT FWIW) to my F56. I think I'm aware of most of the mounts that are out there, but you never know.
I don't care whether you have a Classic Mini, R53, R56, F56 or any other model and I don't so much care which GPS you might have. I want to see pics of your GPS mount for mounting ideas. Please identify the mount you have along with the pics.
Usually I have my iPod in the MINI Click & Drive, but it was made to use with a Garmin Nuvi, 310 or 360? Here is my Garmin Nuvi 550. Sure wish it was an LM version.
It has its own USB port to power the GPS.

My decision has been made. I am going with the combination of the Nuvi 2589LMT (5" screen, Voice Navigation, Bluetooth and Lifetime Maps)and the Mini Click and Drive Mount. I just hope that the dealership doesn't gouge me too bad on the Click and Drive installation. This will give me the cleanest install of all available options with no visible wiring to deal with at all.
Thanks to everyone who participated in this thread.
I can see where the USB plugs into the Click & Drive!
Be sure to get a Garmin ball mount for your iPhone.
The 2589lm should mount on the Clck & Drive's ball similarly to this, that ball mount adapter ought to be included with the 2589lm, so you shouldn't need any other hardware.

I have an appointment to have the click and drive installed at the dealership on my F56 on Monday and I will mount a Nuvi 2589LMT GPS to it. It is unclear to me looking at the Click and Drive install instructions if the wiring harness is to be connected to an "always on" circuit on the fuse panel or if it is a circuit that will power on and off when the car is started and shut off.
I have been using the Nuvi with it's included power adapter connected to the 12v accessory plug on my console which is not on an always on circuit. The Nuvi will power up when I open the car door and it will power off after a few minutes after shutting the car off. That means that the GPS will power up every time I get in the car even if I don't plan to use it. I am wondering if it would be better to connect the Click and Drive's wiring harness to an always on circuit instead.
I would appreciate input on that question and also clarification from the attached install guide which type of circuit it specifies for the install.

I bought the official mounting kit and the Garmin Nuvi 2497.
I want the MINI splash screen on my Nuvi but it seems the splash screen change on this model is not easy (as in older/other Garmin models where you could replace or create an image and paste it to the GPS directory).
I positioned my garmin nuvi down below the toggles and with double stick tape fastened four little appliance rubber feet from a hardware store and the garmin snaps in, or out ....and the model i chose allows it to be synced with the BC-30 back up camera ...works quite nicely l
i posted the pictures here on a different thread, on posts # 43 and #43
