Recommend speakers?

Hi! I just got my Mini yesterday (10-8-14), I found out that the speakers are a little blown out. They are fine when not turned up, but that is not my style. Anyone know of some good speakers that will preform well in a mini?

What year is your Mini? Is it the H/K system? Do you have a budget? Need some more info to help.

2002 Mini Cooper S No Harmon. And price isn't an issue wanting quality, but will not pay over $250 for just front speakers. Alsu wanting a single deck unit with an aux input don't entirely car about blu-tooth.

I have a set of Polk components in the doors of my r53. And they found awesome. I don't recommend composite speakers because it lowers the stage height allot. And pretty much any head unit is going to have at least 1 aux input. Just pick your favorite brand.

I just put in a set of JL 's in my car. Best thing to do is just go to your local shop and listen to some speakers and decide from there, because you might not like what other people like.

I went to my local Cartoys and tested their speakers I like the quality of Alpine sps610's but so not set on them for sure, I was thinking about having them install a new single head unit since it is such a pain in the cooper and plus I don't have any of the parts I need. The install is about $140 which is a bit of a cost but at the cost of my time would take about 2 hours and i don't have any of the proper parts.

Polk DB series are on my wish list.

DB6501 for the front and DB651's in the rear.

With an Alpine HU and Power Pack, I think I will be set.

Just me but I don't recommend rear speakers. It throws the sound stage off. I had some in my car then when I replaced the fronts with decent speakers it sounded bad so I turned the fade all the way forward. But to each they're own. Love my Polks and alpine head unit

+1 for the component setup (not the composite speaker lower on the door). I haven't done it yet, but as mentioned - it will lower the stage too much (my ears aren't at my knees).

Funny to hear that r34king doesn't like the rear channel. The component Polk's must be that good to handle everything by themselves. I've never heard of anything like that, but with such a small car/space and good staging I suppose it's possible.

I have my high pass on my radio set to 60 so as not to kill them. I still need a DSP, 5 ch amp and a sub. Getting that stuff probably next year when I pay off my wife's car. The rear 6x9 Rockford's that I have installed do add some bass but it pulls the stage off the dash. I like the music in front of me. Like going to a concert. You dont sit facing the crowd if you aren't in the band
