Picked up my R59 on Saturday and two things strike me as odd, like maybe I'm missing something.

I have MINI Connected without NAV.

Pandora App: When my iPhone is wired in and I take or make a call, when the call ends it does not return to Pandora, it defaults to FM or XM. Is there a way to "fix" this? I might just need to close all the apps on my iPhone and maybe restart it. Didn't tinker with it too much.

Voice command calling: This I feel like I must be missing something in the manual or documentation I've read. I am able to voice-command my way through different parts of the system, but I can't figure out how to set it up so I can push the button and just say "Call Bob". There has got to be a speed dial, right? Or do I have to say "Telephone, Phonebook, <Name>, Entry#" ?

Your Motoring Advisor should've helped you set this up.
For Pandora you need to go into iTunes and download the MINI Connected App. You get all kinds of information on the music and your car's status thru this app. If you are using just the Pandora app it you will default to FM or Sat because it is not connected to the MINI connected.
For the voice command dialing you need to set up your phone book. Then you can push the voice command and tell it who to call.
If you have further issues you should contact your MA at the dealership you bought the car from.

Oh he did! I have been loading the Pandora App on my iPhone and not Mini Connected (which I DID install). The Pandora app shows the Mini Logo so I thought I was doing it right.

I've got to go by Mini today to pick up my parking pass, sunglasses, and garage door opener that I left in my trade-in this evening so I'll get the rest figured out there.

Make sure you check for CDs too. The CDs and your other 3 items are the 4 most forgotten items left in a trade.
Where did you get your car?

 

Mini of Portland. I did purposefully leave a CD that my friend made me as a joke when I first bought my Mazda that's full of Hanna Montana and Miley Cyrus. I thought "This.... this should stay with the car."

I actually cleared it all out, and left those three things sitting on the passenger seat as my hands were full. Just never went back for that last trip (because they rolled the Mini out from being detailed at that point lol).

 

Mods, I mistakenly posted this into the 1st Gen Mini section, at your convenience could you move it to the 2nd Gen?

Just wanted to follow up. the Voice command on the R59 with Mini Connected/NO Nav does not appear to have the "Save Name" or create phonebook option.

Instead, one must say "Choose name" (wait for prompt) "<Name of Contact>" (wait for prompt) "Entry#"

It's a bit better than it was, at least Choose Name works from anywhere, but I'm pretty dissapointed that I apparently can't just say "Call soandso" from anywhere and have it sort that out. I'm really hoping that I'm still missing something, but after about an hour going through the manual I'm pretty sure that's how it is.

 

I know what you mean. It was much more direct with my non-Connected car, but I don't find saying "Phonebook" Then "name of contact".

 

Yeah I don't mind it. It's a trade off for me. My Mazda required you to manually enter each name and phone number and it was such a hassle that I never did more than 5 or 6. I am glad to have access to my full phone book without having to program it even if I do have to go through a couple extra steps.

It's definitely a strange set-up, though. I wonder why they wouldn't give you the option of saying "Save to Speeddial" or something. Is there a place we can submit suggestions that actually gets looked at?
