Navigation & Audio Head unit swap- HK
Solution, Sell it all and start over. The volume limit is built into the amp as is ALL of the DSP functions. If you want to be nice you can sell it on here for a reasonable price OR you can sell it on EBAY and make some cash. I have seen the amp pull over 400.00 on ebay. A lot or people sell them on here for a much more reasonable price to help others out.
If you search this forum you will find all kinds of ideas on what can be done. From head-units to aftermarket speakers and subs.

You can get the OEM Auxillary input ($30-40), which works on all 2003 and later head units (the late 2002 HUs didn't support aux-in) but that doesn't address your volume issues.
The HU isn't the issue - they're all the same, but the wiring and speakers (2ohm) are specific to the HK package and aren't interchangeable.
If you get a non-OEM head unit, you may be able to get a 'HK enabler' that will translate from 'normal' head units to HK.
AFAIK, those are your options besides ripping everything out, and installing new.

You will need to find an adapter to keep the steering wheel controls, and another adapter for the antenna input...
DO NOT JUST HACK IT OFF AND ATTACH A PLUG for you new radio...the plug on the MINI carries POWER to a INLINE signal AMP for the FM signal...if you do not use the adapter, the FM reception will be VERY BAD, regardless of the radio...
