audio problems please HELP!!

so i have an 05 r53 with problems. i bought the car with a blown hk amp. went to an audio shop and they recomended a jbl amp for half the price as a new hk amp. i had the jbl in for over 2 years no problems until now. sooo

when i turn the radio on no sound comes out of any speakers except for the two little tweeters and the volume when turned up all the way is very dim. over the last couple of months i was noticing crackling and hissing when all the speakers wer working. now i cant listen to any music and its driving me crazy. i dont no if i blew the amp or if i blew all the speakers out. please someone help me figure this out. i tryed resetting the car still nothing. and also checked the fuses and they wer fine. please help thanxs

It could be as simple as loose connectors at the amp. See if they have a firm grip on the terminals. Push on and off a couple of times to clean off corrosion.

If you crank up the bass and volume to ridiculous levels, probably a more expensive solution will be appropriate.

Put a volt meter on the amp and see how many volts it is pushing out of the speaker + and - when the radio is cranked up. If it is pushing 12-24 volts, you are more than good there. If the tweeters are playing, but the rest of the speakers are not, that means the stereo is pushing the tweeters, but the amp is not pushing the rest of the speakers. You must have in-line RCA connectors hidden somewhere in the car as well to feed the signal to the amp via RCA's, maybe those came loose on you or fell out of their slots. How does the amp smell? Does it smell burnt? Since you heard crackling, then dim sound, then nothing, my guess is the RCA's fell out of the in line connectors or they were rubbing somewhere and the RCA wires are severed. Feel free to PM me and I will give you my cell phone # and we can talk it out possibly.
