spend my money , I need a Garmin

I have a HD(?) plugged into the OBD but the Garmin that was in the car is gone. I have the mount next to the tach. I need a Garmin that I can use with my pickup and I would like the Garmin to display the gauges broadcast from the OBD transmitter when in the Mini. I do not know anything about them. Please help me spend my money

quote

Apparently the previous owner took out the Garmin. I searched around and purchased the cheapest factory refurbished nevi 1390 that I could find. I got the cheapest HD I could find and mounted the gps on the factory mount. The HD plugs into the OBDII port and communicates by bluetooth to the gps so the only wire you have is for power and it was hidden. I had Boost in the middle large gauge, Water Temp, Air Intake, and varied the other gauges. I had a MINI splash screen on the nevi and even though I rarely used the gps, had a red MINI with black stripes instead of the regular arrow for location.

I have the 1390LMT -- you can use any Garmin that has bluetooth -- it sounds like you have the ecoroute HD already plugged into your OBDII port. Mine has lifetime maps which will save you $$.

JPMM,

Do you have a good source to purchase the Garmin mount? I think I want to add that set up to my CMS.

Thanks, was just checking to see if there was an aftermarket part out there in MINI cyberspace. I really don't want to hard mount my Scan Gauge and I like the look of the Garmin gauge interface.

Hi, Is there a way to get the gauge screen up right away after starting the car without scrolling through all the stupid screens?

I've never heard of anyway of doing that -- my is mounted with a cravenspeed mount, little pricey but works well

Not that I can tell.

I really think the answer is no, but I'm not entirely sure.

What I need to do is post an emphatic, "No!" and every member of this board will investigate every aspect of Garmin International in the hopes of proving someone wrong on the internets.

the boost readings are interesting but the intake temps are really interesting to watch, I think I need a bigger intercooler!

If you press the "leave power on" button after shutting the car off , the gauge screen stays on. Its good for parking the car for short periods of time.

Do you know if the Garmin can read more than 20lbs of boost? The analog gauge only goes to 20 .

The gauges go dead on the screen sometimes

I'm having the gauges die sometimes for no reason. They all just go to zero. I have to monkey with and/or reinstall the HD connect to get them to work, like the bluetooth thing drops the transmission . Has this happened to you?

I've never had the gauges die, but twice since I've set up this thing, I've been tooling along and suddenly I get a message basically saying, "A new vehicle has been detected. Do you want to set it up?" Whatever you click, you'll find that all your vehicle history, (fuel consumption, "At The Pump", mileage reports, etc.) is gone. Kinda defeats the purpose of the vehicle history stuff.

I will say, though that this Garmin has a lot going on. It's being used as a GPS, I have the EcoRoute HD set up and paired with it, and I have the Mini OEM GTS Traffic Antenna feeding it real time traffic info, too. I'm wondering if that's a little much for it to handle.

Garmin has replaced two EcoRoute HD units of mine for the same reasons. I found that when making short stops (going in the post office to drop off mail) and then restarting the car the pairing is lost. When I know I will be shutting the car off then on again in a short time span I hit the "Stay ON Button" on the Garmin 1390LMT when it is shutting down after ignition is turned off. If I am taking the car for service I disconnect the power from the 1390LMT so it won't turn on/off. I found that if it wouldn't pair I would go into the settings menu and restore the Bluetooth settings and then depress the reset button on the HD unit. The last HD unit has never had a problem pairing up. Be sure to go to the Garmin site and up date the software as I was told there were up dates for the HD unit. I am very dissapointed that I have lost the mpg data at times.

could it be a low battery/failing battery in the Garmin?

I was wondering even if its wired up to the car would a soft Garmin battery cause problems?

fixed it! went to read the instructions, if you hold the upper left screen and push down the on/off button , then wait for the screen to come on then continue to hold the screen for 30 seconds,,,,,on and on and on. Anyway fixed it for now, (5hr map load)!
