Navigation & Audio GPS not working.
GPS not working.
hey guys, so i was updating my nav system on my mark 4 with the v32 and it ejected it in mid update, and now the screen turns on but is blank and the drive has orange lights rather then red, my guess is the system is now wiped, so is there anyway to reinstall the software, any ideas?

idk if this makes a difference but its a 2003 r50, i also thibk it might be because i used a cd that was burn to fast., the only time i hear the cd working is when i open the doors. on a side note it wont eject the cd. so to clarify if i get the cd out pop one in it should reinstall
oh thank god things still pop up on the screen now, ok well it says the disk is defective and i believe i tried both Mark IV v 32 and Mark III v27, and im officially out of CD R, i dont suppose someone would have the proper file i need, i only have one disk left lol

It is finicky about reading CD-R discs. Burn another copy, perhaps on a different computer. Some people have had to burn several copies before getting one that works. Since you have a Mark IV, just do the V32 version.
Or you can purchase an official firmware CD from a BMW or MINI dealer for about $10, part number 01 59 0 141 891. It's a real CD (not CD-R) and would work more reliably. If they happen to have their own copy handy, they might just pop it in and update yours for free.

i wonder if the problem is that perhaps its a mark III it responds a lot quick like in 3mins to disk, and the mark IV disks takes forever like at least 15mins or something
I didn't understand what you meant by that. Your Nav is a Mk4 unit if it can read DVD map discs (Mk3 can only read CD maps). The entire update process shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes. If it's taking longer, it's probably having trouble reading your CD-R disc and it keeps retrying. The same firmware CD is used to update both Mk3 and Mk4 units.
I was just having an out loud thought, anyway i think it might be a mark III then, Not that it really matters when i bought the car it was using a dvd based map high version and it would keep freezing and wouldnt work, so i copied the data onto a cd r and never had a problem since, well other then this lol.

Two possibilities that could explain your issues are that the laser lens may need cleaning, or that the laser itself is failing. For lens cleaning, Google "cd laser lens cleaner". If the laser is failing (which is not uncommon), you can replace it yourself if you are comfortable with taking electronics apart and soldering.
BTW, as a sanity check you did burn the firmware onto a CD (not a DVD), right?
Ok, so i just checked the the Map disk turns out it is a cd i guess i never realized that, oh dang then i think is a mark III, Well, the whole nav system isnt working at the moment i just need to bring back the system so i can use it lol, would the update disk still work to reinstall v22
See if you can find an update below V32... I remember a few people that had MK3's having an issue with V32.
Try here.... http://www.xoutpost.com/electronics/navigation-system/
Also, the MK3 is VERY picky about media and burn speed/mode. Make sure that you are burning in mode 2 at the lowest speed available.
Just curious but what year is your MINI?
