Hi Bobyn,

Which of the accoustic setting do you have it on? Spatial, Instrumental, MINI h/k, Electronic, or Festival?

My H/K gets loud, but that may be subjective if your are used to something more. I was initially not very impressed, but it has grown on me. Make sure you have the correct setting for the proceesing. I have settled on MINI H/K and have been very happy. You might want to make sure the Driver option is off for this test as well.

The system seemed to get better over time, do speakers need to loosen up ?

Again if your used to 2000 watts and 15 inch subs, no, it doesn't get that loud. But it should get loud enough that you can feel the bass and not be able to carry on a conversation.

It's more of Audiophile type system than who's coming down the street with there tunes on kinda system.

Hi Guys,

Dominic....I have it on electrionic...it seemed that it was the loudest setting.

Gmack...As far as the "Driver Funtion" ? I'm not sure if its on or off....what is that function?

I've installed a real kick *** system in my dakota, so I'm used to that...but this still seemed limited on the loudness...the sound is great though.

I'll check these settings.

Thanks
Bobbyn

Ah, we have another future candidate for "Hearing-aids-R-Us".

i agree bobbyn,

the HK leaves something to be desired in the volume department.

if you enjoy driving with the windows down and the sunroof open,
forget about enjoying music at highway speeds...

This is worth reading for any H/K owner (to get the settings just right)
http://www.angelfire.com/in2/guitar/minihkreview.html

Some solutions?
Add dynamat extreme to reduce road noise and help dampen vibration.
Get a loud exhaust to drown out your music with the windows down.
Get a subwoofer and amp to handle the lows for the H/K better.
Drive with the windows up, AC on and don't rev the engine too much.
Get a hearing aid.

Personally I'm pretty deaf these days after working in the Dole Pineapple cannery for four summers when I was younger and dumber. I have an aftermarket audio system that really cranks it out loud even louder than my Milltek exhaust header/Quicksilver exhaust with the windows down on the freeway. When I get back into a residential area its going so loud I have to ask myself-"What are your doing?"

I haven't seen one of these posts in a while, so I'll chime in as I always do:

Any MINI stereo will get very very loud--louder than anyone should be able to comfortably listen to it. The only need to have a stereo that will get any louder is for neighborhood "sound bombing" runs, which just aren't very cool. If you really feel the need, then head to your local neon-lit stereo shop and get them to put a "kickin'" system in for you. Enjoy.
