I am thinking of buying an IPOD or a Zune HD. Can I use this to play music video on my factory NAV without any major modification?

I have a 2009 MCS with factory NAV.

Correct me if I am wrong all you NAMmers out there but I think the video input is disabled on non-Euro spec cars.

 

On the new sat nav/visual boost, I think that Video is available only with ipods!

For what concern the old sat-nav i think u have to buy some additional interfaces to do it :(

 

I have heard that this is possible on the 2011's. I use the 4th Gen iTouch with my factory Nav, but youtube videos do not show on the Nav. In fact, the iTouch controls are usually disabled once plugged in to my MINI. Let me know what you find out though.

 

You can play videos that are in the ipod playlist not from youtube or other.... U also need the special BMW audio/video Y-cable (i just saw one on ebay.... it's not very popular!)

 

Thanks Nimrandir. Have you tried this yourself? I just tried playing a couple videos from my iTouch, by hitting play first then connecting the Y-cable. The videos continues on my iTouch but I only get the sound through my MINI, which is pretty cool. While it plays, the car only recognizes my iTouch as an "external audio device", vs how it normally shows the name of my iTouch. Another thing is that the everything stops after about 1-2 minutes. A bit strange... maybe someone out there actually has a patch to rig firmware to keep on playing the iTouch.

But i tried with the normale Y-cable and my iphone/ipod nano 5g... In the screen there's the option "movie" but it's disabled... Searching infos on the web i notice that there two different Y-cable... One its the classic and the other one is the audio-video y-cable... If you want i also have the part number code for the 2nd cable
