blackberry 9630 (tour) for sprint

Just got a used 2007 S. We have five Bb Tour 9630 on Sprint. Paired the phones, and my wife's and son's seem to work fine. But when I paired mine, it paired, but then showed "connection active" and I could not disconnect, even though I had no call. No matter what button I pressed, it showed "connection active." As I said, my wife's and son's seem to work fine.

Of course, I called MINI, but was told phone was not on compatibility list yet, so they wouldn't help.

Any ideas? Is this a phone problem? A car problem?

Mini says using a non-compatible phone could damage the system. Anybody have any thoughts on that?

See this thread. Some phones will load their address book into the MINI, but it wont get erased. So, a new copy is added every time it is connected to the Bluetooth. Eventually this fills some stack and the system crashes. Rumor is that hardware has to be replaced. I can't see why, but that is what has been reported.

That is only on two very specific devices and not a single blackberry.

As for the ohter BB's un pair all phones and try just yours with out the ohters being paired. If this does not work then there it is something specific to that phone.

Let my self or nicknbecka know and we will do our best to assist you.

Yeah, I'd guess it's specific to that phone too- maybe a hard reset would help? Out of curiosity, how is the connection active message displayed? I don't remember seeing anything similar before.

As for the non-compatibility issue, the Tour seems to use the standard Blackberry OS and is the same major version that the Touch uses (v4.7), which has been around for a few months now with no issues like the PalmOS on the 700p. I'd guess that the chances of any damage are none to extremely slim.

For what it's worth, MINI USA has stopped guaranteeing that even the tested phones will work. The level of CYA they've adopted about it is rather disappointing.

I really appreciate your help with this.

I will double check when I am next in the car. But what happens is first there is a loud, annoying screeching sound. Then it shows "connection active." Over one of the buttons there is a picture of a phone, which has the word "end" underneath. But if you push the button, nothing happens. There is a timer going, showing "call duration" which keeps moving forward. I am pretty sure the keypad button is there. If you push that, the keypad comes up, with numbers. But no matter what button you push, it either does nothing, or after entering some numbers, it then shows "connection active" and shows how long the call has been going on.

when you refer to a "hard reset." I assume you are referring to taking the battery out of the phone?

Thanks again for your help.

Yes a hard reset is to remove the battery from the phone while the phone is on.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their help. I deleted the mini bluetooth from my phone and reset the phone by removing the battery, and after deleting the phone from my mini paired it again. It seemed to work fine. While I did not try to make or receive any calls, my a-z list seemed to be there, and obviously, did not have the connection problem I had before. So all seems well.

So thanks for your help.

I had this same problem, i ended up having to have the car reflashed for the window problem, and that solved this issue.
