when you install be sure to hook up the power antenna lead and the illumination lead.
I didn't do the power antenna lead because I thought it was if you had a mechanical antenna that went up and down... it's for the amplified antenna. Also, the illumination/dimmer lead will dim the brightness automatically when you turn on the headlights; if it is not marked, splice into the grey w red stripe wire for the dimmer.
Great stereo though; wish it handled presets for the radio better but oh well.

If you have the multi functional steering wheel you can get a pac swi-jack controller to control the head unit with your steering wheel buttons. I know for the x100 if you enable the dimmer it disables the wheel controls when lights are on. Thought this might help.

The install came out good. It took about a half hour to install so it wasn't too hard. Stuffing all the wires back there took the most time. Had all the connections hooked up beforehand.
As for your MCS, crutchfield.com listed it to work in your car.
I think my next one would be one that could play video. But for the ipod/iphone use, works as advertised. Can play songs through the head unit, will dim the music down if a call comes through, can play games with the music playing, play Pandora if you want to. All in all, works as advertised.

Hey guys, I got the alpine x305 too. I installed it with the pac swc and the kce400bt. I noticed the antenna reception is weak. the dealer says there is an antenna booster in the car. what wire do I hook up to make the booster turn on? the blue amp turn on wire? or the power antenna wire? what wire do I hook that to?

the Steering wheel controls are kinda weird. you gotta pic the functions you use most and program them to the 6 buttons you have. for instance id you choose to make the souce button work, it only turns on and off the tuner. if you choose the preset change, it will only change stations, not tracks, or playlists. But it is very modular and you can program it as much as you like till you find the settings you like most.
what color is the power antenna wire?

You guys should take a look on www.newministuff.co.uk. He is a vendor on here and he just has Plug and play kits for all types of stereos and steering wheel adaptors that are built into the wiring harness he supplies. You don't have to chop anything. I think the hardest part was putting the pins in the radio harness and then pushing them into the ISO connectors that you have to buy as well. Even then it is just colour match up. Not Cutting or soldering needed. You just need to order the correct harness for the type of OEM Radio you had. Drop Mike an e-mail and he will answer any questions you have
