if theyres one thing im good at is audio , how much are you planning on spending , one thing you should get straight here is what your looking for , if your planning on going loud , or just a way around good sound system that gives more quality sound than actuall loudness , one thing alpine is good for is headunits , thats what theyre recognized for , subwoofers would be JLAUDIO theyre the boss for subs , amplifiers theyre mb quart , mcintosh , zapco , ppi , for speakers mb quart , alpine are good , but just doesn do it for me ; i guess the big question here is how much are you planning to spend????
I'm sure you will be happy with any alpine product you purchase; very high quality sound. There speakers are crisp. So if you like clear audio they should do well. (this may sound weird, but some like it a bit muddier, or softer)
Listen to the speakers in the store (if possible in the configuration your getting, the fronts, rears, and sub.)
I'd reccomend a single 12'' because of the range, a 10'' subwoofer will be louder, but not as deep. Get a custom built box, or a Q-logic box. I'll be building a custom one for the boot when I get my MCS next year.
Bring a CD mix of the most common music you listen to. See how they handle it, and if you like the sound. I usually bring in a U2 cd with "Where the streets have no name" (organ in the beginning is very soft and resonant), and a mixed cd of Rock, Punk, Metal, and some techno.
If they have XM you can usually browse thru the XM stations and get a good idea of how it sounds with diffrent types of music.
Good luck, and let me know how it turns out.
Who will be doing the install?

I am in the industry and MINImaniacS knows his stuff.
Alpine is the best choice for head
JL I like for amps and sub. They make really big amps. See if it even fits for your needs.
MB quart for speakers.
With all that said how loud and how much power do you want in such a small car. Decide what you want to listen to, how loud. Don't use up your ears now, you will want them later.
