Portable GPS and Stereo Mute

Is there a portable GPS that mutes the car audio when the GPS is giving voice directions? Thanks!

P.S. This isn't necessarily for the Mini.

So, I guess not. I was hoping there was some sort of hook up through the aux port that would accomplish that........

the nav interface from newminiparts does this using the stock mini radio.

garmin sells a VIB box to pro installers which has similar functionality
(assuming you want to do it to a non-mini radio)

Ive got one of these connected to an aftermarket bluetooth system for my phone. Works great... mutes the radio and plays the phone call over the MINI factory radio speakers. I think you can wire it to work with any audio input like a GPS.

I played a bit, trying to splice an old headphone cable into the system but couldn't get it to work. I got the bluetooth and radio interrupt device second-hand and already wired up, so I didn't have the instructions... trying to say that I took a quick stab at it and, when it didn't work, gave up fairly quickly.

Keep trying (and let me know when you figure it out! :D)

I have a Verizon Blackberry Pearl that has the Verizon Navigator. It can be hooked directly to the aux port with a standard cable The Pearl has removable Micro SD storage. I carry 2 GB of music on it in mp3 format. The Navigator will interrupt the music to give voice directions.

Yes, the Garmin 750 when connected via the aux port of the stereo will mute the music when giving directions. I have this setup in both of our MINIs.

Great! Thanks. That's the model I was considering. Oddly, when I asked Garmin, they said none of their portable systems did that. But, a review I read also said the 750 did, in fact, mute the stereo.
