Nuvi 200 Help

Hi,
My wife got me the nuvi 200 off ebay for my birthday.

I would like it to do a couple of things.
1. Change the arrow to a silver with black top regular MINI.
2. Find out if it is supposed to do more than display
Garmin with a little computer
when I plug it into the computer.
3. Find out why I need or want to use the picture viewer.

I keep reading about the .srf file I don't know what people mean.
I read the directions it says to move pictures to the JPEG folder, but
I have no JPEG folder.

4. What the SD card slot is for.

I guess general help on how to set it up MINI-style.

Thanks.

OK.

I've got the silver mini .srf file.
I put it in the folder that the garmin
manufactured for me.

What next to do?

THANKS

HA SPOKE TOO SOON!

You have to make your own folders and it works.

Like, I thought it should make me a folder
"vehicles" but, you have to make it yourself.

So if anybody needs step by step or any files
let me know.

Thanks to the person (not sure) that made the
files for our cars

SD card slot is great, you can get a big enough one to store all your songs and pictures on. I did that and mounted mine in the car and hooked it up to my aux port. Then you can have it navigating and playing your music through the car speakers and when it directs you it mutes the music and tells you what to do then brings back up your song.

Do you mind expanding on this?

Mine does not appear to talk to me at all.
My wife has a street pilot and it says
"turn left in 200 feet". Mine doesn't.

How did you connect it to your aux port?

I have only the smaller USB type opening on
the back the small one.

What do you do on long trips? Where it needs to
be charged?

Poke around in the settings menu and there should be an option to enable voice guidence. To connect it to the aux port all you need is one of the male to male stero connections like if you were to plug up an ipod to it. Then there should be a jack on the side of the nuvi like a circle opening like on an ipod where you plug in the other end. For charging on long trips you should have a cigarette ligher adapter to plug in.

I guess we have been snookered.
It says Garmin nuvi on the front.
There is a usb port on the rear.
A SD card slot on the side.
That's it.

It also I notice only has a view of close or closer.
My wife's street pilot you can back out to get the
space view to orient yourself.

Well, its cool I'm used to not having the best stuff anyway.

Sounds like someone may have fooled around with the maps and the programing and stuff before you got it.... It should ahve spoken turn by turn directions.

We did figure out the guy just needed the thing
for a europe trip. I guess he had a better one
or just wanted the smallest one for travel.

Of course he registered it first thing so we can't
update anything.

Well anyway I'm cool with it. But now my question
as to get the kuda mount is answered. I basically
have to get it. I can not see the little arrows
when it is on the windshield.

I'll wait a few years and get a used one that does all
the stuff even an mp3 player and such.

I figured another thing out.

There is an option in the system to change the voice.
I don't have the file.

So I need some file.
I also need to know what is the name of the folder
the file is located in. You have to plug in the computer
and find this. I would prefer the British female voice
or even be able to choose between a couple.

I would like to get this file and name of folder from somebody here.

I'll trade DS diddy kong racing or DS call of duty 4 for it.

Thanks.

It says can't find the device.
Then says I need to set the garmin to host.
But....I can not do anything with the garmin plugged in
because it just shows a computer icon and doesn't
use the touch screen.

Can you offer up any help?

Thanks.

There is a reset button that you can access through the bottom that should set it back to factory specs. If the previous owner messed with the original files, you might be out of luck. I changed the blue car in our 200 by simply changing the car shown in the unit to a.old file and copy and renaming the mini srf file to the original/old file name.
