Does the iPod/Bluetooth hook up cord work with new iPods?

I currently have the 30g video iPod, but I want to buy one of the new 80g versions. I have the iPod/Bluetooth hook up and I'm just wondering if the cord that came with my Mini will work on the new iPod.

Thanks!

The only reported iPods that it does not work with are the very first iPod and some of the Gen 4 iPods. The problem with the Gen 4 iPods is usually a charging problem.

If your iPod came with a USB cable, then yes, it will work with the iPod adapters in the MINI.

This is the only thread I've seen so far that gets close to my related question.

I have the MINI ipod cable that came with my '08 MINI. I've since gotten a 2nd gen ipod Touch. I assume they're incompatible as the Touch interface is different from the other ipod models. Any suggestions for a new setup such that I can use the Touch in place of my old Nano?

The new iPod Touch has the same pin outs for audio out and data control that all other iPods have. So from that stand point you should not have any problem. Where you are very likely ot have problems is in the charging and recognition of the iPod Touch by the MINI electronics. Most likely the Touch will not charge unless is is very close to full charge as it has high power (1.5 amp charge rate which the MINI does not support). The recognition part my also be dificult if the Touch can not get full ppower from the MINI.

Thanks schatzy--I figured you'd chime in. I'm not necessarily going to swap the units (may just dedicate the Nano to the MINI) but in light of your input, do you (or anyone else) have a power / play thru suggestion to configure the Touch so it does charge as well as play thru the MINI speakers?

There are a number of threads here about what people have done to get the power/charging for their iPhone (iPod Touch is the same just without the phone module installed) so if you look at those they can give you some ideas.

My iPod video (30gb gen 5 / 5.5) works perfect and was *cheap* on Craigslist.

My wife's 4th gen Nano works perfect but I was limited to 8GB so I got the Video as the mule.

I'm actually thinking about getting a Nano for myself as the Video is perfect for the car but bulky everywhere else.

Thanks schatzy. I realized I could check out those other threads just AFTER I submitted my question. As always, thanks for the help.
