AMP Question??
So I just bought the Alpine PDX-5 and have started the install. I have several questions. First has anyone on NAM used and installed the RE-Q5? Second when sending wire from the amp to the speakers, do I still need to use the crossover that came with the speakers? Or do I just hit the LPF for the speakers? Or would I leave the amp filter in the off position because the RE-Q5 is where I would make those settings? And last but not least where is the most convenient area to find the wire inside the car that goes to the speakers in the doors? Any help would be great thanks!

Can't anyone help with even one of my questions? Please! I have the back of my car ripped out, and don't really want to have to rip out the front to find the front speaker wires. But if that's what I have to do so be it. Thanks in advance for any help.

2. What stereo do you have in the car now? standard or hifi
3. are you using stock speakers or after market speakers?
4. how are you using the amp? 4 channel or 2 channel
We need a lot more info from you to be able to help.
Also i see the rating on the amp is 75 x 4 if that is how you are using it then you could possibly get away with the stock wiring to the speakers but if you are using it as a 2 channel amp (150 x 2)then you would want to run all new wiring to the speaker locations.
As for the speaker crossovers again they could get blown up by the amp if to much power is applied.
Tell us what all the components are and i am sure some one will help.

Sorry, I guess I should have thought of that.
1. R56
2. Standard Stereo
3. Polk MOMO 6.5 Comps up front and Polk MOMO 6x9s Rear
4. Neither, 5 channel 75w x 4 and 300w x 1
I have the Rockford Fosgate P3SD210 Sub, that the Alpine will also power. If there is anything else I would need to give ya holler at me.

There is a thread somewhere that tells where the amp for the HiFi system is located. as far as i know form the schematics the wiring for the speakers from the head unit run to the amp location and then to the speakers in all cars. This allows them to easily add the amp at the factory The amp has speaker level inputs. I just can not find the post right now.
Wiring for the speakers is good and although not the best would work so you do not have to add new speaker wire.
I am not sure of the size of the HiFi amp but with the Apline it is rather small and may or may not fit where the HiFi amp goes.
Speaker crossovers - Yes you still need to use them as they seperate teh highs that go to the tweeter and the rest that goes to the Mid bas woofer (6.5" n the door)
On the amp you could use the LPF to eliminate more of the bass from the 6.5" in the door and the 6x9 in the rear and us only the subwoofer for the deep bass. This is a setting best played with after the system is up and running to see how you like it best.
I think i got all your question but if you have any more or i missed one please let me know.

hey master, whats the update on this. how did it come out? i was looking at the alpine last week. i guess it didnt fit in the stock amp location? where did you end up mounting this? I really didnt want to take up space in my boot and was really hopin this would work.
If you have the stock sound system with an R56, all the signals you want, for driving your new amp, and for getting to the speakers, are located in the X9331 connector, which is accessible just ahead of the driver's door. Pick up the signals for the amp at the female pins, and the speakers at the male pins.
Read the speaker swap thread for details, and reasons why you want to drive both front and rear channels of the amp from the front channel outputs!
I've been looking at the Alpine pdx.5, and hoped it would fit in the compartment under the passenger seat (empty unless you have sat radio).

My recommendation would be to pull the signal straight from the head unit and avoid messing with anything else in the car. Check out the video that I posted and it should show how I had my car set up.
