Can the OEM AUX cable accept Line Level input

Can the OEM AUX cable accept Line Level input like you would get out of the docking connector of an iPod ?

Or do we need to use only speaker/headphone level outputs to the OEM AUX input ?

A cable that connects to my dock connector with a 3.5 stereo jack on the other end plugged into Artoo's Aux input works great and sounds a bit better than the headphone out from the iPod. The only problem with that is that I can't charge it at the same time. For that I am thinking a DICE is in my future.

The bottom line answer to your question is Yes. No problem.

Sure you can, just use the 3.5 stereo hack to RCA afdapter cable and this cable

The OEM AUX is a line level input, and gets better sound out of the ipod dock connector than from the headphone jack. However, most people simply connect it to the headphone jack because they are familiar with standard stereo cables and might not even know about the line level in the dock connector or that cables exist for it.

There are iPod dock cables directly with 3.5mm stereo plug. The retractable ones are very convenient.

SO either the right cable in the AUX harness is broken or the plug is not aligned, or the cable from the AUX to your iPod is bad

A mono cable would produce that symptom. Make sure you are using a stereo cable.

Mono: Stereo:

Otherwise, you might have a bad right side connection somewhere in the path between your player and the headunit. Unplug/replug all the connectors or try a different cable.
