well i took the liberty of doing my own research. If anyone's interested, the answer is no.

Not at all? I was really hoping to add this on eventually ($500 sounded like too much for HD at the time I ordered)... Well, that's crappy.

Are you sure? While I'm new to the board, I'm not new to the way BMW sets up their vehicles...a quick check of RealOEM.com shows that the HD tuner is a separate unit, part number 65 12 911 9350, along with the bracket. The wiring harness probably has the correct cabling already (I couldn't find a different or supplemental wiring harness). If that's the case, it's simply plug and play!

RealOEM lists the part under the R56 stereo section as "IBOC-TUNER" and has the receiver and bracketry as separate items.

The part number is the same as listed above.
