IDAX100 Installed :-) H/K parts available

Headunit is installed, speakers, amps and crossovers. Next weekend will be the subwoofer in the boot -- then she's all set. Anyone interesed in buying that HK headunit and speakers can PM me.

Head unit is IDA-X100 and is incredible ! looks real good in the car too !

Amp is the Memphis Belle 1300

Front & back is Diamond components - I'll upload a pic of the rear tweeter install....looks like it was stock :-)

Subwoofer install is next weekend - going with a custom fiberglass in the boot.

Hah, i just installed the ida-x100 in my car this weekend. Very nice looking and the colors match up pretty darn good, too. Makes working the ipod soooo easy and the sound quality is amazing!

Was there an adapter available for the IDAX100 to integrate it with the factory steering wheel controls? The Alpine site mentions the feature, but doesn't have a list of compatible cars.

Crutchfield says yes. I haven't bought it yet, but supposedly there is a PAC unit that works with the MINI

And here's a night picture for matching purposes:

Might want to take that picture down as it's considered exhibition of speed on this site

82 (I don't know about everyone elses, my speedometer is 2-3mph faster than reality, according to GPS) in a 75 in the middle of Nevada? On a stretch that there were no services for 75 miles? Crazy. That's only 7 over. I was getting passed

My BMW is the same way, too. Maybe it's something they do to help people with speeding tickets? I.E., someone's "going" 75 in a 65, which a cop might pull, but they're ACTUALLY going 72, which is less likely to get pulled.
Doubtful, but hey.
I'll be honest, though, I wasn't at 82 very much on that road I actually just picked up the car in CA last week and got home in MO last night, so I had to enjoy it!

If anyone know's the exact adapter and can post a link to it I would appreciate it. I am not sure I would get use to the controls, but I guess you never know.

Hey Guys, I just re-read this thread, I am always posting quickly. I am not the one installing this equipment, I have no problem pulling old equipment but when it comes to installing -- nope. This is a pet peeve of my wife's too...I always say things like "I am putting in new XYZ this week" but what I really mean is I am paying someone else to do it.

This weekend I am personally going to remove the HK amp, but the subwoofer will be professionally installed by Jon Becker (Becker Audio). I havn't installed a system in years...'bout 25 I suppose :-)

Sprout - I changed m HU to red as you did in your picture, the HU is red but the car is orange - it doesn't match as well as it appears in your picture.

I called my Audio store and they will try a few different PAC's that they have in stock to see if any work. He knows of one that works with Alpine on the older MIni's -- so I suspect that will work here as well. I'll let ya know down the road when we get to it.....

I thought I had actually put that it matches better in the picture than in real life Now I realize I put that in a post on bimmerforums, not here. But yeh, you're right, it's definitely not a perfect match, but it's a million times better than the blue.
Also, after scouring the internet, i found someone who hacked Alpines background picture format and made a program that will convert your picture to the right format. I made more of an amber one but it's kind of boring. Going to take one of the existing ones with swirls and whatnot and turn that amber. I'll make it and take pictures later and send it to you if you want

Absolutely - please do. I'd be very interested in seeing what you come up with. I saw a dimming feature in the menu - havnt' had time to fuss with it, does that help the color at all?

I think its incredible. The only trouble I get is if I let my Iphone get too close to it (about 4 inches) - there is some slight, yet very noticeable, feedback. The FM tuner is impressive, Sirius works very well and my Ipod (via Iphone) is my main-staple.

The sound quality of the HU is complimented by the Memphisbell 1300 amp and Diamond components -- I wouldn't want to use the HU with stock amps & speakers.

I'm currently using the HU with the stock component speakers while I wait for my new comps to get in, and JL slash amp paired to 2 ED SQ10 subs.
Sounds AMAZING.
I actually emailed GregS, who i bought the car from, to see if it was the stock speakers in there or if he left his aftermarkets. So I'd say it's ok to run with that, too (non-hk system, too, btw). But yeh, quality is great. Mostly I listen to my ipod classic and the quality is great.
