OEM Nav operation questions

I have gone thru the "search" function hoping to find a thread discussing the operation of the nav system. Not much luck.

I just got my first Mini (Clubman) and while I think the system in general works very well, there are some things about it that confuse me. I am thinking that I am just missing something.

Can anyone point me to a current thread? If not, anyone here that can help explain how set guidance destination for a POI, like a gas station, bank or place to eat? My first experience to do this I had to go thru an insane amount of steps, starting with narrowing the search down to a specific state.

Any assistance is appreciated.

There's not many threads that cover how to use the Nav so much as there are threads talking about how bad it is or isn't...

If you were hoping to find a set of instructions that were faster or less steps than the instructions provided with the car, you might end up being disappointed...

You pretty much have to select the state a town each time you're looking up an address, unless you're modifying an existing route or doing a search 'In Current Location', IIRC.

That and the fact that it's hard to find POIs in certain categories sums up most of the complaints about it.

Well, that is what I expected because as a long time VWVortex member (I drive a R32, the Clubman is my wife's) I fully expect threads to be more about debating than content...

Ok, well you pretty much confirmed what I already knew. That is an odd setup for POI. Generally those are much more convenient to access. Maybe we can officially begin the "helpful tips" thread here.

I moved your thread to 2nd Generation MINIs, may prove more helpful.

Try this thread. Chubby's Edit#2 has some short cuts.

THAT, is one of hte major problems with it!! You shouldn't have to do that. And you definitely should not have to select a catagory.
