Navigation & Audio UPGRADED DVD Navigation? Anyone have an ISO file?
Any NavTec based map DVD should work on any DVD navigation system. MINI, BMW, Lexus, etc...
FYI, I suggest you visit a BMW or MINI dealer and try out a Nav system to see if the roads you want are actually on the new maps. People complain that the maps stay outdated for years (sometimes many years). Navteq tends to concentrate their updates on adding entire towns or regions that were not previously on the disc.
Not exactly true. Navteq maps come in different formats (High, Professional, etc.) for different Nav hardware. I believe the map disc for the R56 is not compatible with the 1st gen Nav.

The Navigation map discs are effectively commercial software, so any discussion about illegally copying them is prohibited here. The updates cost $199 from either your dealer or directly from NAVTEQ.
However, obtaining updated NavOS software is less of an issue than the map disc itself. Upgrading the NavOS is almost always worthwhile, for improved performance and (sometimes) new features.

Which Navteq DVD to use?
This is my situation: I purchased a MK4 DVD navigation unit to replace my MK3 CD-based system. The new (used) unit came with a Navteq DVD already (2006-2) but does not work. My old CDs do work fine with the new DVD unit, so I know the actual unit is not having issues.
It's my understanding that Navteq sells multiple versions of their disks each year depending on the actual hardware used. Maybe the person I bought this from added a DVD from another unit to the sale of my unit. Not sure.
So, based on the DVD part and model numbers, is it possible to determine what the proper DVD required is? The other option would be just to determine which Model and Year BMW the unit came out of. From that, I can order the correct DVD from Navteq.
Here is what I have now:
Model: BMWNRR201-06
HW: 1.0 / SW 7.0
Part Number: 6590 6 983 312-01
Appreciate any help available.
