how do you hook up an amp to a stock radio

Does the stock head unit have a place to hook up an amp?

The 2nd gen MINI has the radio so integrated into the rest of the components of the car that I'd doubt that they would put amp-out on the back somewhere. I'd bet that you will be stuck trying to lift speaker-level outputs. This is all speculation, though. Good luck

Yeah...after looking around a lot, it seems like the best way is to lift the line
level outputs from the front 6 inch mids. Use a PAC loc or another similar product
and do it that way

I picked up the inputs for my Alpine amp from the rear speaker feeds. Some have said that they do not get the full spectrum but my installer insists he measured the output and it was complete. It may be the difference between the HIFI vs the stock radio since the HIFI has an amp that may be messing with the outputs to the various speakers. You can also use a line out converter like a Stinger and pick up the speaker outs in the back of the head unit. Good luck.

No, really you just asked a question that has probably already been answered and no one is taking the time to type out all the stuff again for you when you can already find it by looking around this forum. Really, not 5 threads away from this one is another asking the same thing, and if you type "amp" into the search box for just this forum you get 142 threads about the topic.

I'm not trying to come across as hostile, please don't take it that way, and I do appreciate your question and thank you for posting. It's just so easy to use the search feature of the forum and get answers for yourself so much quicker and without having to wait for someone to do the typing that I wanted to make sure you knew it was an option.

short answer : no

Long answer - It can be done.

Just read the sticky thread at the top of this forum titled speaker replacement.

ALL the answers are in there for anything dealing with upgrading your stereo.

Just posted this, maybe it gives you some place to start. I used speaker level inputs from the rear 6x9 speakers. You could also use a line-out converter.
