Navigation & Audio Bluetooth compatibility list
So, just to be sure I get this correct, VX10K07 is newer than VX19K03, right? They're being referred to as v7 and v3 respectively?
Also, it sounds like v3 works with the MINI address book, but the Bluetooth updates in v5 and v7 break it can't be rolled back?
Looks like v7 is bad news for Bluetooth compatibility all around.Do the newer versions work otherwise?
As for the newer V5 and V7 firmware updates -
1. Pairing - Yes
2. Dial from dash or phone - yes
3. Dialing extra number for voice mail systems - only from phone not from dash
4. No ring from car only from phone on incoming calls.
5. Makes Voice recognition software go crazy it calls out strange numbers, and symbols if Voice system is initiated from the steering wheel.
I went and had my Motorola E-815 fixed, Cost me $80.00 for the repair plus a new battery at $79.99, but all functions work just as they are supposed to.
One note on the 08 Mini Bluetooth system is that the voice recognition system does not go back to the phone for the info, it has to be loaded manualy by way of speaking command and such. I will put up another post about the problems i have found with it, as the manual uses incorrect language and the help feature does not tell you all the commands needed.

I've had some success using my Verizon VX6700 recently.
After reading that the power saving mode might knock off the bluetooth signal I monkeyed with the settings and instead of > battery power off in 2 minutes of inactivity I selected the 5 minutes of inactivity option.
I haven't had a drop out yet, however it is sometimes slow to pick up the bluetooth signal which usually entails me powering off and on the bluetooth.

Hey MINI MANIACS
I picked up the LG AX830 Glimmer from Alltel and it paired just fine and seems to be working just fine even the voice dialing works after I figured out it's save name instead of store name hope this helps somebody. I have 08 MCS.

Bluetooth issues, LG VX8700 phone
I am having problems with the Bluetooth and seek advice. The phone I use is an LG model # VX8700. It is not on the list of the certified list that mini published although the LG VX8500 is. Ialso see the VX8700 on the 'unofficial' list published here.

The phone and connectivity is flaky at best. It works sometimes, but often disconnects soon after connecting. The system often doesn’t pair, then does. But when it does work, it never loads or reads the phone book. When I look at some message board responses within I do see that some have the same phone as mine using the VX8700 yet can read the phone book, but has another problem that mine doesn’t. Mini simply told me, you have the wrong phone. But in other messages on the mini board, I see that many have phones that work fine, including reading the phone book, and these phones do not appear on the official list (which incidentally seem dated anyway).

Also, I’ve seen instances when the dealer upgraded the Bluetooth software and then the system worked fine.

In any event it seems many people out there have a lot of problems with the Bluetooth in the mini regardless of correct phone or not.

My question to you is, can you suggest something I should do? I’m prepared to get another phone, but what if I spend that money and it still doesn’t work, and it ends up being a firmware, or software problem/upgrade in the minis’ Bluetooth system? I would have spent $100 plus for no reason. Is there a way to determine if the mini’s software/firmware is at the right level first before I buy a new phone?

Not sure if anyone has posted this or not but just in case here's a link to Verizon's Compatibility Matrix... http://support.vzw.com/how_to_use/bl...h_car_kit.html
MiniBella,
Thanks for posting the link to the Verizon compatibility list but much of the information there is dubious at best.
I have had two different LG phones that are on the list but that will not work with the Mini BLuetooth because the firmware in the phone is not what is listed on the compatiblity list.
For instance if you buy a LG Voyager it now comes with firmware v LGVX10KV07. The compatibility list states it must be LGVX10KV03.
And yes a LG Voyager with Firmware LGVX10KV03 will work with all functions. The problem is that the Firmware LGVX10KV05 and LGVX10KV07 firmware will NOT work with a Mini or BMW. Also if a phone was at LGVX10KV03 and has been upgraded it can not be down graded to work.
All LG phones from Verizon are sold with the latest firmware and unfortunetly do not work with Mini's or BMW's. You can see my other opst in this thread about this matter.

Thanks for the info Schatzy. Had been thinking about getting the Voyager but it sounds like it won't work any better than my Env. Thought the firmware listed was from when they did the testing... and that newer firmware would not have an impact on compatibility. Guess not.

My Env works but the phone book has not sync'd and I can't see recent call info, etc. Some folks with the Env have said they have complete usage... possibly due to different firmware. Will have to do a search on that.

kcoccaro,
You will need to check the Firmware and Hardware revisions of your phone.
To check the Hardware version, remove the battery and look at the label in side the battery compartment. it will list the hardware as V1.0 or less (i believe V1.0 is the latest version of the hardware).
To check the firmware, on the phone go to Menu>Settings&Tools>Phone Info>SW/HW Version
If your firmware version is not T87VZ01 then your phone will not work with the Mini.
Please note that if your firmware version is lower (which i don't believe it can be as it is V01) then it might be able to be upgraded bot the V01 level.
If it is higher, such as V02 then it can not be downgraded and have it work.
Sorry for the bad news but that is unfortunetaly the way it is .
One of the posters to this thread, nicknbecka, has a google spreadsheet showing some better compatibility phones and issues. It is listed in the signature or here http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?k...HjCm-AfA&hl=en

I also had an enV2 which had the same issue with the Firmware version. I spent over 30 hours talking to LG, Mini, BimmerNav.com, Auto Wireless Solutions and what it came down to was that the revisions that LG put in their bluetooth broke the usability in not just Mini's and BMW's but many other cars as well.
I ended up going back and having my old Motorola E-815 fixed and it works like a champ with all versions of BMW or Mini Bluetooth.
In fact I just looked through all the data I had gathered and it looks like the LG enV (The V) is not supported at any firmware for BMW/Mini. This of course does not mean that it will not work partially, and others have reported being able to get it to work. It would be really nice to know what BMW/Mini Version of bluetooth module these reportedly working phones are connected to. BMW/Mini is now up to revision 13 of their bluetooth module. and just to let you know to upgrade means a hardware not a software upgrade, and the only place to get a newer upgraded module is from an after market source as BMW/Mini only sell first generation modules.
Oh and another note is that most Motorola Phones with Bluetooth form Versizon will work with BMW/Mini but the last decent phone they made was 2-3 years ago. Everyone that I know that has had a Razor or Krazor has ended up selling it and purchasing some other kind of phone due to poor quality of the phone.

Just a note to all persons reading this Thread.
Not only is there different versions of Phone hardware and Firmware but there is also different versions of Bluetooth modules in varying years of Mini's
Infact in some years there was a many as four (4) different genreations (versions) of bluetooth modules.
So what this means is that lets take an 06 Mini with bluetooth, and XYZ Phone. The XYZ Phone at firmware V01 may work with two of the three bluetooth modules generations in the 06 Mini but not the third. But then XYZ Phone with V2 firmware may only work with one of the three bluetooth module genreations in the 06 Mini.
There are many variables beyond that model of phone or Mini that come into play and it seems to be very random.

Verizon Treo 650 w/ '08 Mini
I just updated the software on my Treo to Verizon's version 1.05a & now my phone connects perfectly with my Mini! Using the phone's BT linking, I was now given the option of selecting a "car kit" & completing the sync. Success was indicated by BOTH the phone & the Mini. All of the BT features work. Only the favorites load, not the address book. Close enough for me!
Before the update, none of the BT features worked accept for when I made a call from the phone, the BT would sometimes pull the call onto the speaker but mostly not recognize the phone. Also, Mini's BT would have to control the linking as the phone could not initiate the process.

I can see that this is an old phone update & didn't notice anyone mentioning specifically if their Treos had this software version when they tried to link the phone & car. It made a HUGE difference in how Mini's BT feature worked for me.
Have I now opened Pandora's box? Does this software update now allow Mini's BlueTooth to start saving all of the favorites repeatedly, which toasts the BT?

Tony
It should work fine. I had a V710 that worked with my BMW and upgraded to the E815 because it used the same arm rest insert for my BMW. Also the E815 is just a V710 with some extras.

I do not want to be mean or anything but if you read through this thread you will find all the answers to your iPhone questions.
Thanks Schatzy. Good to know. Now if I could just find that charger...
Minidrivr, your post says the cradle IS available for the Motorola RAZR V3? with the connection on the side, how does it connect? Pics?
Thanks,
sd
Thanks,
sd
It pivots up and the phone slides right into the connector.
It should also be noted the Razr is one of the few phones that can voice dial from the Mini without any setup on the Mini or the phone. The Mini can some how read and interpret my phone book's names and compare it to what I ask it to dial. Pretty amazing how well it works too.

Lots of great info the past couple days here... Spend a couple days replacing a failed septic tank pump (where's the nauseous smiley?) and I'm way behind already

Sadly, we'll be helping out with a wedding out of town over the next week and my net access will be limited to Blackberry only. We'll see how that works out...
