Navigation & Audio Bluetooth compatibility list
Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus pairs easily
Just the the new Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus with Android 4.02 and 3.0 Bluetooth- it paired the quickest of any phone I have tried, using 0000 as suggested with other Samsung Galaxy phones. I have a 2008 Mini Clubman S.

can't download address book
I have not yet been able to download the address book, will try to re-pair and see if that works. No option on the phone to download it as far as I can tell.
Paired the Galaxy Nexus again, and noticed this time that the phone asked permission to download the address book, I selected yes and don't ask again, and immediately the address book downloaded. It seems to me that Bluetooth 3 is so much faster than any other phone I have paired.

The list is a joke. First let me warn you that if you want to search for a compatible phone, don't do it by model. Do it by last 7 vin characters. Mini/BMW warned me that doing it by model is not accurate and will list some phones that won't work. Model year may have more than one BT technology is the reason. Second, I got the list for my Countryman and there were only 3 "simple" phones which are obsolete at the Verizon store. The "smart" phones will all require minimum $30 month data fees. So if you just want a phone/phone you could be high and dry. Verizon store is getting two LG's "simple phones for me to see if either one will pair up to the car. If not, then I simply will not be able to use the BT feature in the car unless I want to take on minimum $360/yr more to verizon. This sucks.

Yes the MINI provided list is very poor on accuracy.
Check this list it is much more compete and accurate. These are realy world tested not shop tested as MINI does with a limited number of phones.

DO NOT get an LG phone they are notorius for NOT working with the MINI.
By my look up at Verizon Wireless you have a number of phones that should work. Of course none have been tested by MINI USA but from past experience there should be no problem with the m working with the MINI bluetooth.
Motorola Barrage - every motorola phone i have ever had has worked with both my BMW and MINI.
Samsung Intensity / Gusto / Brightside / Convoy - Most Samsung phones work well with the MINI bluetooth.
Pantech Hotshot / Jest 2 / - Most Pantech phones work very well with MINI's
Ther reason I say DO NOT get an LG phone is that LG has thier own proprietary bluetooth software that does not meet the bluetooth standards and thus does not work well with many auto manufacturers OEM systems.
Good to know... I'll be connecting a Razr Maxx in a couple weeks and test it... should work since it's the exact same ROM.
Trouble pairing
I just got the Samsung Galaxy S Captivate, which I think is known as the SGH-i896, and can report that it pairs with my R56 - no problems. I am on Rogers in Canada; the phone is on Android 2.2 with Bluetooth 3.0.
anybody else having issues pairing an iPhone 5? Mine doesn't want to connect. I can see MINI BT on my iPhone, but my iPhone won't display the pairing code I need to input on the screen in my MINI.
I have since upgraded my that same phone to 2.3.3 and it still works fine. Have you gone through the pairing steps in the Bluetooth and Multimedia manual included with your MINI?
iPhone 5
Will then lightning cable ever be compatible with the mini stereo to play music?
Have you found a good dock for your phone in the mini?
Did you try using the 0000 as the password?
I just paired Samsung Galaxy S2 running Jellybean 4.1.2 (rooted)with my 2013 MCS.
I don't have Nav or Mini Connected. So far making / receiving calls works well.
Streaming music via Bluetooth does not work. Appears that you need to have MiniConnected to do it. I can play music via USB by setting up my phone as MASS STORAGE.

Thanks that'd be great! I have been going nuts trying to make a decision. I have a 15 year old who can be sitting in the car with me and will still text me rather than speak... LOL the texting info will be the dealbreaker.
I'm not advocating child abuse, but if my son kept texting and he was within an arms distance in my car he wouldn't be doing that for long.
