Stock SIRIUS install

I'm getting ready to pay for the stock sirius radio and install it myself. I'm aware I will have to pay a programming fee in order to have it work, but I'm fine with that.

I've been looking around and so far morristown mini seems to have the best price, I was just wondering if any of you have paid less?

Thanks,
Joel

Doubt you'll find anything lower than Morristown. They seem to have the best prices on all MINI accessories.

The $479.20 they quote is the same I paid through Classic Mini in Ohio. The list price at that time last fall was $599. And it does include one year of programming.

Take pictures! I don't think anyone has installed it themselves yet. Anyone?

Take a good book. You will need it.

I would also talk to the dealer where you buy the hardware. My dealer told me my car required a four-hour download for the Sirius and the Ipod adaptor I had installed at the same time BEFORE they installed the hardware.

Afterward, it required another download to synch the Sirius and the Ipod to the car's system, plus a general car software upgrade since the time I first brought it home.

Something in the post-installation download didn't take and they had to keep my car several days until they were able to resolve the problem with Mini's national tech staff.

My question for the dealer you buy the hardware from would be to ask about the pre-installation download and whether you would have to bring your car in before and after installation.

Good luck.

MINI of St. Louis only charged me 2 hours labor ($220) for the install and any additional parts. Judging from the fact that they had the car for two days tells me I got a bargain.

Yes, I would say so. They charged me three hours for each. It was the first Sirius radio they had installed for the R56.

I'm not too worried about programming either way, I'll just get a dealer to agree to a cost before anything is started.

I wasn't saying that from a cost standpoint but making sure that you knew there was a pre-installation download and that you arranged for it before you added the hardware.
