Navigation & Audio XM Radio anyone?
XM Radio anyone?
I know that I could have had Sirrius radio installed when I ordered, but I prefer XM (I'm a baseball fan). Has anyone installed XM on their MINI? Where did you put the antenna, etc?

Super Dave - I just need to check, because it does matter... what model year and variant (coupe or convertible) is your MINI?
I need to ask because solutions for 2nd Gen MINIs are different than those for 1st Gen MINIs, and since you're new to NAM, we need to make sure you're asking in the right place.

I installed a SkyFi3 in my MCS. They're about $100 on the net with some rebates around. It's a fairly easy install:
- Rig a mount: I went with the ProClip 853245 dashboard mount that attaches to the left dash upright under the speedo.
- Route power: I put an Add-A-Fuse in one of the acc switched power fuses in the fusebox in the left footwell. Routed the power up and across my Euro parcel shelf.
- Route antenna: The SkyFi3 antenna is a mag mount - I just plopped it down next to the regular antenna and routed the wire through the hatch opening and through the interior stuffing it under trim. I did remove the rear seats to get it routed under them.
- Rig Aux input: I had an aux input already in my console, so this was just a conventional stereo min-jack cable.

It works quite well and my total investment was under $120 or so. Only drawback is that the radio slightly crowds my right knee, but only when getting in/out. And you can find XM intro subs that give you the first three months free and then $78/year after that.
Have fun,

XM install
Trying to answer questions:
My 07 MC is currently aboard the Fidelio, set to travel through Panama on 11/17 and to CA on 11/26, man I hope that it doesn't spend too much time at the VDC! At Crevier Dec. 7?
I also have just placed the antenna on the dash of my current vehicle, but I wasn't sure if it would work as well in the MINI because the windshield isn't as slanted as my current Honda. I like the audio input for a direct connection. I already have a MyFi. I like it because it's portable, but I worry that it might be too big for the MINI cockpit, so I might look for a smaller XM receiver.
